ALMOST THE WINTER SOLSTICE
this year─ ༓ ─
Lydia Spellman had always enjoyed the winter holidays. She enjoyed the decorations, the traditions, getting time off school, all of it. She even enjoyed Zelda's constant reminder that they didn't celebrate Christmas, but the Solstice. However, what Lydia enjoyed the most was how every year, on December 23rd, she would go to Susie's house and they would watch old Christmas movies all night. Now that she and Susie were together, in a way, Lydia couldn't wait.
Currently, Lydia sat on one of the chairs in the living room with her legs pulled up to her chest, resting her chin on her knees. She was lost in thought as her family decorated the room around her.
"Aunt Hilda, Ambrose, the Christmas tree looks great, you guys," Sabrina complimented, snapping Lydia back into reality.
"Sabrina, I wish you wouldn't call it that," Zelda said, "It's a Yule tree."
"There it is," Lydia muttered, smiling to herself.
"Christmas isn't so bad, Zelds," Hilda told her sister, "Plus, also, for someone who doesn't believe in it, you have got yourself quite a few presents."
Those are not for me, Hilda. Those are for baby Leticia. Imagine, a baby in the house just in time for the holidays," Zelda said, walking over to the bassinet where the baby laid.
Leticia was the newest addition to the Spellman family, an addition that really shocked Lydia. She couldn't decide which was more surprising, the fact that Leticia was really Father Blackwood's daughter or that Zelda stole her.
In the end, it didn't really matter, as Lydia liked having the baby around. She wasn't necessarily great with kids, but babies didn't talk, so it made their interactions somewhat enjoyable. Plus, Leticia laughed at almost everything, which Lydia couldn't help but admit was cute.
"It couldn't be more perfect," Zelda sighed, smiling down at Leticia.
"Pity the child in question was abducted," Ambrose muttered, earning a glare from Zelda. Lydia bit back a smile upon seeing her aunt's reaction.
"Ambrose, need I remind you of the High Priest's rather herod-like tendencies when it comes to baby girls?"
Ambrose came over and sat on one of the chairs next to Lydia, picking up a cup of tea, "What I can't fathom is how you expect to keep the babe's existence a secret."
"What secret?" Zelda questioned, sitting down as well, "There's no secret. Leticia is a long-lost Spellman sent to us from the old country to raise, as we did the twins."
"Oh, I remember when that was taken!" Hilda suddenly gasped.
Lydia looked up at her sister and Hilda by the tree. Sabrina was holding an ornament in her hand, showing it to Hilda. Lydia stood and walked over to where they were. The ornament Sabrina was holding had a picture of their parents in it, and they were holding the twins. Hilda looked at them, a saddened look on her face.
