"Your flesh is mortal, and in the end, all mortal flesh must
BURN."

Sabrina grabbed Lydia's hand, stood up, and dragged the two of them out of Principal Hawthorne's office, sprinting into the bathroom. Lydia quickly let go of Sabrina's hand and ran into one of the stalls, kneeling over the toilet and throwing up.

She took deep breaths before flushing the toilet and sitting back against the stall wall, the Dark Lord's words still ringing in her ear.

After taking a couple of minutes to recuperate, Lydia stood up and walked over to the sink. She turned it on, cupping her hands so she could wash her face. She looked up at herself in the mirror, but jumped when she saw someone standing behind her.

"Ms. Wardwell!" Lydia exclaimed, prompting Sabrina to come out of one of the stalls.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to startle you. It's just I —" Ms. Wardwell paused, as if she was trying to find the right words, "It's just I saw you two fleeing Principal Hawthorne's office, and — oh, that man, that man, that man, that man. Did he say something just hideous to you?"

"Well — he — um —" Lydia wasn't sure what to tell her.

What could she even say? "Satan just possessed our principal to tell us that we would burn in Hell?" Ms. Wardwell would think she was crazy.

"Want me to call your aunts? See if they can come pick the two of you up? Take you home?" Ms. Wardwell asked. She lightly grabbed Lydia's chin, tilting her head up. Her actions made Lydia feel very uncomfortable, and she looked at Sabrina warily.

Sabrina, seeing Lydia's uneasiness, spoke up, "No, no. we're fine."

"We just got a bit light-headed," Lydia continued, stepping out of Ms. Wardwell's grasp.

"Thank you, Ms. Wardwell," the twins said together, quickly joining and leaving the bathroom.

"That was strange, don't you think?" Lydia asked.

"Ms. Wardwell? Or the fact the Dark Lord just possessed our principal?" Sabrina retorted.

"Obviously, it was strange and terrifying that Principal Hawthorne got possessed. But —" Lydia paused, "It's just, how did Ms. Wardwell get in the bathroom? I mean, I know she came in through the door,  but the door was to our left, but when we talked to her, she was to our right."

"I think you're just paranoid, and rightfully so," Sabrina told her.

"I hope so," Lydia said, "I really hope so."

At lunch, Lydia, Sabrina, Susie, and Harvey were sitting on the stairs by the front office.

The image of Principal Hawthorne was ever-present in Lydia's mind. His mouth foaming, his eyes leaking blood, his voice deep and menacing.
