CHAPTER 1

In life, there are many times you will encounter different kinds of trials and challenges that will test your patience and faith. During those trials, you might get tired, and you might surrender at any time because you think it's too much for you to handle. But those trials that keep challenging you will eventually build the character that you will become someday. Those trials and challenges in life will be the ones that prove how strong and indestructible you are as a person.

"Where the hell is my necktie?" I asked myself while brushing my hair. I looked in every corner of my room but failed to find it.

Mukhang nagbonding na naman sila ng nail cutter ko. Both of them have the ability to hide whenever I need to use them.

Lumuhod ako sa gilid ng queen-sized bed ko at saka kinapa-kapa ang nasa ilalim nito. Napangisi ako nang makapa ko ang kanina pang nagpapahirap sa buhay ko! My necktie!

I was about to pull it out when I noticed it was stuck beneath the box, so I had no choice but to pull out the box to get my necktie. I put the box on my bed first before wearing the necktie to complete the look of my uniform. I fixed my ruined hair and then put two clips on both sides.

Kukunin ko na sana ang bag ko at akmang aalis na nang mapansin ko ang kahon na nakapatong sa ibabaw ng kama ko. I slowly walked towards the bed, then sat beside the box. I opened it, then slowly smiled. I couldn't help it, especially since all the items that were inside of it were connected to my mom.

Mula sa mga picture naming dalawa hanggang sa mga videotapes na magkakasama kaming tatlo nila dad mula sa iba't-ibang okasyon. Nasa loob din ang ilang paboritong perfume ni Mommy na siya mismo ang gumawa. I chose one from it before spraying it on my uniform and some parts of my body.

I was about to close it when something caught my attention. It was the sling bag that I used during Mommy's biggest day and also when the accident happened. Umiling at ngumiti na lamang ako bago iyon mabilis na niligpit at muling ibinalik sa ilalim ng kama kung saan ko talaga 'yon tinatago.

I first tapped my legs and did some stretching before leaving my room. I was whistling while walking downstairs before proceeding to the dining area.

"Good morning, Dad," I kissed Daddy's cheeks before getting a sandwich on the table. I was about to leave the dining area when I heard Daddy call my name.

"Channel, where are you going?" I looked at him, then gave him an energetic smile.

"I'm going to school na. Why?"

His brows crossed, nilipat sandali ang pahina ng dyaryo na binabasa bago muling nagsalita. "Without having breakfast?" Tinaas ko naman agad ang hawak na sandwich at winagayway iyon sa harapan niya.
