The Experiment

Chapter 7

Iris POV

I walk back inside and felt a lot better now that my head was cleared and I sit at the kitchen table with Nathon and we sat quietly sipping our new mugs of hot chocolate that I found can calm the nerves quite well.

As we sat there I felt questions buzzing in my mind wanting to be released through my mouth but I reigned them in not wanting to get into Nathon's privacy. " All right what is it" He said.

I look up sharply wondering how he knew I was thinking about somethings. I sighed and said What happened to your family. He looked away and said " killed in war with the experiments. I bristled and ask " what war"?

He looked up again and their was shock and said you didn't know about the war. I just shook my head and told him " I was the first and most rebellious experiment, they didn't want me to know anything of the outside was hoping to break me. He looked at me and said " you know you are a mystery inside one it self.

I gave him a small smile and said well I could be the answer to the bigger one" and we both laughed smiling and I got up putting my mug in the sink and said I wonder what will happen if we are found?"

It was a innocent question and he said I don't know but I will do everything I can to keep us out of it. I nodded accepting the answer and he left the room going to get everyone up.

I go out of the kitchen and into the training room wanting to get a few rounds on a punching bag. I quickly find one and started a rhythm of punch, punch, kick, round house kick, flip back into position. I was so engrossed into it that I wasn't aware of the others watching me till I stopped seeing that the bag was at least in one piece one time. As if reading my thoughts Nathon said " thanks for not destroying this one" and I just smiled at him and grabbed a water that I left on the bench earlier.

The others stared at Nathon saying " she was here earlier. He nodded and said " she was here and murdered the punching bag. They looked at me and I just looked back sheepishly and point to the tatters on the floor of a corpse of a punching bag and the others just started laughing and Jennifer said " thats a first and I just laughed with them. Feeling like I belong finally and I told them " heading to my room" and left the room quickly trying to savor the dignity I have left. I grab my weapons and started cleaning them making sure they were ready for use later.

Out of all my weapons that I found in my room was daggers because they were easily used to my force and agility when I needed it. Once I finished cleaning the weapons I grabbed a scarf to cover my face from the sand and headed outside. " Hey where are you going! Jennifer yelled. I turned around and said heading out want to come?" She said " sure wait a minute and she disappeared and soon reappeared with a scarf also and two bottles of water tossing me one.

We headed outside and Jennifer said to me that she told Nathon where they were going. I nodded and we started heading west of the base. As we walked I answered all the questions Jennifer wanted to know.

So what do you think the scientist will do to you or us if you get captured again? "They would make you think that facility is hell on earth". I say with a jolt of memories that want to come to the surface. Jennifer looked surprised at my answer but took it anyway.

I climb up a sand dune sitting on the top resting with Jennifer. I look around and suddenly Jennifer's arm is around my neck pulling me down and she hissed " don't sit up!" I peek above the sand dune and see the scientist's vehicles heading towards the direction camp is and I said" Hurry there heading towards camp".

We raced down the sand dune running while the sand churns at my feet. My scarf came off while I was running but I didn't care and we burst into the kitchen surprising the team and I said " we need to get out of here NOW!. They look from me to Jennifer and Nathon asked Jennifer explain and I raced out while she told them what happened I went out of the room and grabbed a bag full of my weapons and extra food.

When I came back in Jennifer was finishing the tale and everyone now was looking at me and I grabbed my utility belt from the bag and put it around my waist putting daggers and knifes in the slots along with a com unit given to me by Nathon and tossed the rest of the weapons to the others saying " we need to go" and we headed out the back door and into the desert where we will try and thrive.
