Chapter 3

Meanwhile

Tails, rouge, and omega had already completed the mission but it had a few hiccups since sonic and shadow had a part in it but werent there to help and they have already been gone for two days now so they were naturally starting to worry it would only take them a few minutes to settle their differences but its been too long tails was the most worried as sonics best friend and brother sonic always tells tails where he's going and how long he's going to take but it's never been like this "do you think they're ok I've tried contacting them but it wont go through" tails said pacing around in a hotel room since tails refused to go back home without sonic.

"Im sure they're ok hun, they're the most stubborn hedgehogs I've ever seen so they wont go down that easily" rouge said getting up from the couch to stand in front of the small fox putting a hand on his shoulder "why dont we go down town and get your mind off it" tails just sadly nodded.

Rouge and tails where walking around town with omega following close behind "thanks you rouge" tails said with a faint smile on the side of his face "for what?" Rouge asked "for trying to get my mind off sonic" tails said, rouge just looked down at tails and smiled "well i know how close you and sonic are so i know your worried, and to be honest im worried about shadow i know he can pull his own weight but i cant help but worry about him" rouge said with a sad smile tails just looked at rouge kind of surprised he didnt know rouge felt this way she was always so flirty and seemed happy lots of the time he didn't known that she was worried.

"'Well, like you said they are the most stubborn hedgehogs we've ever seen' so lets have faith in them they can survive almost anything" tails said rouge smiled "thanks kid" Rouge said as they started to walk back to the hotel in silence but it wasn't awkward it was actually pretty relaxing for all of them.

With shadow and sonic

They started to walk again and as before shadow is holding sonic in bridal position with sonics arms around his neck making sure he doesn't fall sonic was holding on a little tight but shadow didnt seem to mind much "am i heavy?" Sonic said a little embarrassed shadow looked at him a little confused "no, your actually pretty light" shadow said "why?" "Uh, no reason i just thought- never mind" sonic said covering his face with his hands "its not difficult to carry you if thats what your thinking" shadow said continuing to walk, sonic took his hand off his face and looked at shadow "are you sure, earlier it seemed you were having a hard time carrying me" "it wasn't that you were heavy i was just weak at the time i dont have alot of chaos energy left" shadow said "oh, well"- shadow suddenly picked up his movement and started to run surprising the azure hedgehog "why are you running" sonic asked as shadow hid behind a tree  and shushed sonic in response.

Then sonic could hear what it was they're was the sound of footsteps not too far behind them, sonic glanced at shadow you could hardly tell but he was nervous he was still low on chaos energy he could fight whoever it was but it was risky shadow slowly started to walk away trying not to draw attention to himself sonic also made sure to be quite he knew he couldn't fight back but his breathing was a little messed up so even shadow could hear it but good thing the unknown figures didnt notice.

But the one if the worse things they could think if happened a small squirrel climbed out from a tree and landed directly on a small pile of leaves sonics eyes widened when he heard the crunching sound of the leaves shadow started to move faster not turning around but the figures did it was hard to see them clearly but they weren't very tall and they were a good distance away to the point were you couldn't really hear what they said sonic could somewhat hear them yelling out to them but couldn't understand then a third figure appeared behind but much closer the figure was shaped like a hedgehog with red glowing eyes.

Sonic who was looking over shadow's shoulder felt like he recognized the who it was but couldnt put his finger on it shadow suddenly stopped sonic looked to see why stopped when he did they're was a big ditch sonic turned back around to see if they were still following behind, when sonic turned around his eyes met face to face with red glowing eyes sonic jumped back in surprise causing shadow to lose balance and fall into the ditch.
