Chapter 4

Shadow adjusted himself so he wouldn't land on sonic and ended up falling on his back, and landed on a sharp rock piercing into his shoulder blade. shadow slowly sat up revealing a large bruise and a deep cut on his shoulder blade "Shadow are you ok?!" Sonic said worried "I'm fine" shadow said grunting a little, they could hear voices from out of the trench

Their voices sounded like those of a robot but it suddenly started to get quiet when they heard sonic and shadow speak they peaked over at the two hedgehogs stuck in the trench revealing themselves to the two hedgies the three that were chasing after they were familiar faces just as sonic had suspected there were three robots the first two were red and yellow robots with a small stature they didn't have legs so they just floated in mid-air the red ones name is orbot and the yellow one is cubot and just like their names the red ones head was shaped like an orb and the other a cube.

The robot standing a few inches away from the others was taller than the other robots he looked a lot like sonic but the red eyes that the robot had made it obvious that they weren't the same person, its name was metal sonic but everyone just called him metal "what the heck what are you guys doing here!" Sonic said he couldn't believe that it was these goons that were chasing him and shadow around and that he was actually scared of them for a second "I'm very sorry if we frightened you but the doctor wanted us to retrieve you" orbot said "yeah he's been saying how boring it was without you kicking his but all the time" cubot said orbot just hit him on the head and glared at him "he didn't need to know that!" The little red robot said metal sonic just stood there waiting for his orders but got tired of waiting and hearing the small robots arguing.

Metal sonic flew down in the slippery trench and carried sonic and shadow out shadow hissed in pain a little when metal picked him up its cold metal fingers touching shadows wound, "let go" shadow said coldly once metal sonic had landed back on the solid ground metal did as he was told and set both him and sonic on the ground "now let's head back to Eggman, he will be very pleased to see you" or not said leading the way towards egg and base but shadow didn't budge he stood in front of sonic who was holding onto shadow for support he still had some soreness in his leg  "how do we know this isn't a trap?" shadow growled 

"Don't worry it'll be fine he won't bite, at least I don't think so" cubot said "well that reassuring" sonic said sarcastically "how about instead of taking us directly to Eggman you take us town instead, I promise I'll send him my regards the next time I beat him in a battle" sonic said trying to persuade the robots and it seemed to work "maybe but I'm not sure" or not said picturing the angry face of Eggman when they don't bring sonic back  "I'll buy you guys motor oil" sonic said with a wide grin on his face "deal!" cubot said almost immediately "cubot are you sure about this? the doctor will be furious that we failed to complete his task" orbot said nervously "it's fine!" cubot said confidently leading the way toward town.

Shadow didn't still didn't trust them but still took the chance since sonic was in no condition to stay in the forest any while longer, shadow sighed and picked sonic up holding him protectivly in his arms sonic blushed a little even though this is what shadows been doing the whole time they've been stuck in the middle of nowhere he still couldn't get himself used to shadow holding him all the time

After a while, they were finally out of the forest where they had been stuck for the past few days now instead of trees there were buildings and people and not just wild animals. Sonic was overjoyed he'd never felt so happy in his entire life so happy he could cry making shadow smile he was glad to see sonic be his immature self once again.

Before parting with the three robots sonic fulfilled his promise by giving each one their own motor oil "see you soon sonic" orbot said "yeah and maybe we could get some more oil the next time you get lost" cubot said sonic wasn't sure if he was joking or not but that didn't matter
Sonic just wanted to see his little brother again he had missed the small fox dearly he just hoped that he was safe

"Are you okay?" shadow asked snapping sonic out of his thoughts "yeah I'm fine I just can't wait to see tails again" sonic said as shadow say him down on a nearby bench so shadow could call the others on a payphone, that's when sonic was snapped to reality he then noticed that people were giving him and shadow weird looks he knew that some people recognized him since that's how he got the motor oil for free but why was everyone starting then he finally figured out why when he looked in the window of a store seeing his reflection

He was almost fully covered in dry mud and his quills were all messed up and dirty and his original beautifully white gloves were now soiled and same goes for shadow but the most noticeable thing was the cuts and bruises he had on his back and the biggest one was still bleeding slightly it looked painful

Just then shadow hung up the phone and sat next to sonic "what did they say?" sonic asked "they're coming to pick us up don't worry" shadow said smirking "great" sonic sighed happily and leaned his head against shadows shoulder smiling.

They're finally safe now phew that's a relief oh and if you might be wondering how shadow payed for the call it's because the owner of the store that gave sonic the oil gave them some money since he respected them. :)
