i curled up in my bed sobbing the rest of the campaign. once or twice steve would come upstairs to check on me but nobody else. maybe if i would've just let him talk. god im so fucking stupid. "chloe.?" i heard a voice say, only to realize soon that it was max, billy's sister. "hm?" i said, not moving. "billy said he couldn't pick me up and steve's already left so you think maybe you can take me home.? i-if not i can just wait for my mom to come get me.." she said, sounding scared as if i was gonna tell her no. "of course i will, let me change and i'll meet you downstairs, ok?" i said smiling at the redhead. she nodded and walked downstairs.
i got up and threw on one of billy's sweatshirts he had left down here. why? because it was below zero outside and maybe he wanted his sweatshirt back. i walked downstairs and saw max on her phone. "you ready?" i asked grabbing the keys to my beamer from the table. "yeah" she said grabbing her bag and shoving her phone in her pocket. "so uh, are you and billy like actually dating or.?" she asked, unsure or not if she needed to. "yeah we're dating, well at least i think we are. after earlier i don't really know anymore." i said fidgeting with my fingers on the steering wheel. "billy won't give up that easy on you. he really loves you, y'know? whenever we're hanging out, which isn't really often, he always talks about you like you're some sort of princess that deserves the world." she said. i smiled.
as we pulled into the driveway i saw billy's camaro and another car. "shit shit shit" max said. "is something wrong?" i asked, kinda worried. "billy's dad, neil, he's home. and he's probably not in a good mood..." max said as she got out of the car. "he just got home too" she added as she could feel the heat from the car. i instinctively got out of the car and ran to the house knocking like a mad man.
a woman opened the door, which i assumed to be max's mom. "hi mrs. mayfield, is uh, is billy home?" i asked. "so you must be his princess." she said smiling. "first door on the left" "thank you" i smiled and walked in. i opened his door to find him laying on his bed, cigarette in his mouth blasting music. i'm guessing he didn't notice me until i turned his music down. "what the hell ma-" he stopped when he saw me. "why are you here?" he said. "can we talk?." i asked motioning to come outside with me. reluctantly, he followed.
"billy im so sorry. if i just would've let you talk then we wouldn't be her-" i was cut off by a pair of lips on mine. "princess, there's nothing to be sorry for. you were mad, i get that." he said wrapping me in a hug. "it still doesn't make up for the way i acted towards you. i'm so sorry." i said, once again tears falling from my eyes, burning my face as it was below ten degrees outside. "hey, hey. don't cry love, it's fine, i promise." he said wiping the tears off my face. i sniffled before burying my face in his chest. "do you wanna stay with me? since it's already almost midnight?" he asked, lifting my chin up. "yeah i don't really wanna drive anymore anyways" i said laughing slightly. "cmon then princess" he said grinning. he pulled me into the house and into his room. after a while of talking i eventually fell asleep curled up in his arms.
