Your eyes slowly fluttered open to the refreshing scent of the next morning. The gentle sunlight caressed each feature of your face, creating a warmth on each centimetre of your skin.Your E/C eyes glared towards the already-open curtains, before tightly closing once more as you reached towards the pillow, placing it above your eyes to drown out the bright, late-autumn sun.
A small groan fell from your lower lip as you found your eyes too fatigued to open fully, staying less than a centimetre cracked open.
The pillow swarmed around you; you inhaled the clean fumes of the mattress and blankets. Your body melted in the warmth, feeling time go slower as you savoured the peaceful moments you had.
You wondered what you would do that day: what the next hours would entail.
You finally forced your body to move, your fingers rubbing your tired eyes with a worn-out sigh. Your pupils finally fully opened to witness your dormitory around you, still just the same as you had left it the night before.
You lifted your phone from your bedside table, holding it above your face as a notification instantly shon against your tired face. Your index finger pressed slowly against the 'email' notification as you opened the app.
FROM: 'Prof. Smith'
Good morning class,
my apologies for it being so last minute, but class is cancelled for today.
There has been an issue with the English Department's files which requires a meeting between the Board and Head of English Literature; you will be sent extensive notes that will aid you in our work tomorrow, and your classes will proceed as usual from tomorrow morning.
Please use your free-time wisely, and send all work to me by eight o'clock this evening. This will be counted towards your overall grade.
Much thanks.

... -You sighed with relief that you would be able to rest after the previous night. You immediately flickered towards the 'messages' app; then the 'phone' to check for any missed calls; you were left with a strange feeling when realising that there was nothing.
You felt disappointment but lacked surprise.
Despite acting so ignorant to the idea of Connie actually messaging you, your heart raced at the thought of seeing a notification pop up with his name on top.
You rolled to your side; Sasha had already left for her own classes, leaving you alone in the room to decide what to do on your day off.
You lazily scrolled through different social medias, skipping past adverts and pictures posted after the party last night. Whilst carelessly scrolling through stories and images, you were forced to pause as an ad plagued the screen: an online shop.
Your mind immediately thought of how nice the clothes appeared, before finally realising what you should be doing.
"I should look for somewhere to work."
