One more week passed; you had less than ten weeks left until the project was due.
You arrived at class a little later than usual, but luckily everyone was still sitting themselves down as you made your way towards your regular seat.
You'd gotten there before Connie, which wasn't unusual: most days Connie was late to class. What was unusual was the fact that he still wasn't there by the time that Professor Erwin Smith had began the lesson.
Your brows furrowed as your pupils stayed locked onto the door, waiting for his slender silhouette to walk through with a guilty smile - to hear the Professor reprimand him for being late for what seemed like the one-hundredth time since the start of Term.
But.. nothing.
You felt a tinge of worry fill you as you struggled to take notes, curious on where he was.
You reluctantly began to pull out your phone, knowing that you could get caught and scolded, but also realising that you wouldn't be able to concentrate until he'd answered your curiosity.

You placed your phone against your thigh a you finally lifted your gaze towards the Professor, swiftly picking up a pen as you copied what was written on the board in front of you.
You leaned forward to try and make out the writing at the bottom, before sighing slowly as he swiftly wiped off what was written.
Until, you felt your phone vibrate against your thigh.

You felt your nose scrunch as you leant closer to your desk, glancing up slightly to make sure that the teacher hadn't caught you on your phone; you felt your expression soften slightly as you thought deeply of a reply.

Usually Connie's compliments were teasing or playful, only said to agitate you; your eyes brightened at the message he'd sent as you felt your fingers lace tightly together.

You swallowed nervously, before steering your vision back onto his message, unsure on how to respond.

You felt your lips ease into a smile as you slipped your phone into your jacket pocket, your cheeks having a slight ache from grinning at his messages.
You heard the Professor clear his throat just as you were about to message him back, before realising that his eyes were glaring straight through you.
"Y/N?" His voice sent shivers down your spine as you felt your face gather heat, "Are you really on your phone during my lecture?"
You lowered your head, "Sorry, 'Sir."
He sighed drearily, finally turning his shoulder as you heard a couple of your classmates snicker: "I'll let it slide, just this once, but do it again and you will be appropriately reprimanded."
You nodded, before finally focusing on the lesson.
You felt one last vibrate inside of your pocket as you swiftly pulled your phone out for a split second, barely glancing out of fear of getting caught.
