It had been a moon since the fight and Firekit's head had healed very quickly. Since the fight, Hethermoth had been paranoid that Firekit would hurt himself again so he now had to stay by the nursery where she could keep an eye on him.

"Well if it isn't Cursedkit with his unnatural mark." Emberpaw sneered.

He just became an apprentice last night and now he thinks he's better than everyone else. Firekit sat by the entrance of the nursery and ignored him, looking at the sky. This act made Emberpaw growl.

"Aw, are you sad you have to stay by mommy at all times?" Emberpaw teased, smirking.

Why can't he be out with Burnwing doing apprentice things? Emberpaw was gonna be a warrior unlike his brother, Orangepaw, who chose to be a fire cat instead.

"Just leave me alone, Emberpaw." Firekit meowed, glaring at the older cat.

Emberpaw rolled his eyes, scoffed, and walked away. As Firekit watched him go, he saw a grey pelt flash in front of him and he turned his head. Blazepaw sat down and wrapped his tail around his paws.

"Don't let Emberpaw get to you." Blazepaw meowed softly as his gaze watched the camp.

"I'll try." Firekit mewed.

Blazepaw glanced at the smaller cat and his gaze softened. Blazepaw was practically Firekit's best friend even though he was so many moons older than him.

"You know, Emberpaw snores so loud I would think all the prey would be gone by sunhigh." The dark grey apprentice jokes, making Firekit let out an amused purr.

"Yeah, I'm surprised the other clans don't complain about him." Firekit mewed, making both of them laugh.

"Blazepaw! Come on, I'm taking you hunting!" Scorchingfire meowed across the clearing. Blazepaw stood up and nodded, running over.

"Bye Firekit!" Firekit purred and watched Blazepaw leave the camp with his mentor.

Firekit sighed, once again, bored. Then he heard proud mews from his clanmates and looked over, seeing Charcoalpaw walk to the freshkill pile with a massive squirrel in his jaws. He had his head held high and purred at his clanmate's remarks. However, as he set the squirrel down, Tindersnout, his mother, ran over. She complimented him, but he just turned away, growling, and walked away.

"Firekit!" A yowl came from the Elders den and Firekit looked over, seeing Flamepaw's head poking out.

"Come over here! Patchfoot is gonna tell us a story!" Flamekit mewed happily.

Firekit looked at the nursery and sighed, running over to the Elders den. On the way there he ran into Sparkblast and fell backward. The black queen looked down at him with a scowl. She had just moved into the nursery because she was expecting Redwhisker's kits.

"Careful next time!" Sparkblack hissed and kept walking. Queens are so grumpy.

Firekit ran into the Elder's den and sat down beside his brother, in front of Patchfoot. She had told both of them these stories many times, but they never got tired of them. Patchfoot smiled down at them.

"It was one of the worst fires Fireclan had ever seen. It was so hot even a Firecat could barely take it, but I had to help my clan. I did the only thing I could've done and ran into the blazing hot flames." Firekit listened carefully to every word she spoke.

"I was running so fast the fire couldn't even singe my pelt. I felt like I was running with the fire, it felt amazing. But then something happened, a tree branch fell onto my leg. BOOM!" Patchfoot jumped forward, making Flamekit jump but Firekit's eyes lit up.

"I was stuck, my leg was pounding with pain. I struggled all I could, but nothing worked. I didn't give, I just couldn't. I struggled until my whole leg felt numb. I was finally free but I couldn't move, my leg was bubbling with pain. I looked back and half my leg was gone. All I saw was blood!" Patchfoot smashed a red berry with her paw and red juice sprayed on the ground.

Flamekit ran behind Firekit, but Firekit, however, had bright eyes. His mind was filled with his future adventures. One day I'll run with fire! I'm gonna be the best warrior! The best leader!

"You're scaring the poor kit, Patchfoot." Inferno rasped with a chuckle. Patchfoot purred.

"They need to learn the adventures of Fireclan you old coot." Patchfoot shook her head and tucked her muzzle under her paw.

"You two kits go get some rest." The she-cat meowed.

Flamekit nodded and ran out, Firekit following him. I'm gonna be a warrior! I'm gonna be a warrior!

"Hey, Firekit?" Flamekit went back to his brother, making Firekit glance at him.

"I don't want to be a warrior!" The red kit blurted out. Firekit instantly stopped walking.

"I know it sounds horrible, but I wanna be...a medicine cat. It just seems too dangerous to be a fire cat or a warrior." Flamekit mewed softly.

Firekit's shocked expression turned soft. He purred and rubbed his muzzle against his brother's cheek.

"You will be the best medicine cat. You will be my medicine cat when I become a leader." Firekit purred louder as he saw Flamekit smile.

They walked into the nursery together and curled up, side by side. We will be together forever Flamekit.
