Firekit watched as his clanmates shared tongues, his tail swaying back and forth. He felt a rough tongue on his pelt and turned his head, seeing his mother, Hethermoth.

"Why aren't you playing with the other kits?" Hethermoth asked, looking down at her kit.

"They didn't want to play with me...they think I'm different." Firekit hung his head, making Hethermoth's eyes sadden. She wrapped her tail around her kit and licked his fur again.

"But you are different, in a good way. No cat is the same." The queen meowed softly, purring.

"Go play with them, everything will get better." Hethermoth nudged Firekit to his paws and licked his ear, walking into the nursery.

Firekit watched her go and sighed. It's never good to be different. He slowly trotted over to the other kits, but stopped and turned his head. He purred, turning around and heading to his favorite place, the elder's den. He pushed his tiny head under the reeds that covered the entrance and walked inside.

"Firekit? Is that you?" A raspy meow asked. Inferno! Firekit ran all the way in and purred as he saw Inferno.

"So it is you, I'm glad you're here." the old cat rasped.

"Just great, just when I wanted to sleep, a little rodent had to come and ruin it." growled another Elder, Patchfoot.

Patchfoot was once a Fire cat, but she burned most of one of her legs off and now it's just a stub. Firecat's are the cats who know how to make fires, they also know how to cook prey with fire.

Fireclan is the only clan out of all five clans that use fire, in fact, the clan even fights with fire. They even know how to survive fires, their noses are special, so they aren't affected by smoke.

"Hello, Patchfoot." Firekit mewed, happiness in his tone. Patchfoot growled, but the gleam in her eyes was soft.

"So what brings you here anyway?" Patchfoot sat up, balancing on her stubbed leg.

" I...just wanted to be here, that's all." Firekit nudged the dirt under his paws and looked away.

"Those other kits being rude to you again? You should give them a good whack to the muzzle, that would shut them up." Inferno growled, his tail swaying. Firekit laughed, amused.

After a whole day with the elders, Firekit finally left for the nursery. Before he stepped inside, a dark brown, fluffy, tail slid across his muzzle. Another kit, Emberkit, stood in his way to the nursery.

"Well if it isn't Cursedkit. How was spending time with the old croaks in the elder's den?" The older kit sneered, his eyes gleaming with hatred.

"Don't call them that, they've done more for this clan than you ever will." Firekit hissed, holding his head high.

"What did you say?" Emberkit jumped for Firekit, his paws outstretched. Firekit moved out of his way and ran, running fast.

He ran under his clanmate's legs, ignoring their protests. He ran as fast as he could, Emberkit right on his tail. Firekit almost ran right into Redwhisker but slid under him, glancing back. Emberkit had ended up running into Redwhisker himself and Firekit purred, glad. Then he crashed into something else and fell back, rubbing his muzzle.

"Well hello, Firekit, what's the rush?" Firekit looked up as he heard a familiar voice.

Emberstar, his father and leader, stood over him. His red fur glowed from the sunlight and he had kindness shining in his eyes. Firekit's eyes lit up and he jumped up, placing his paws on his father's muzzle.

"Emberstar!" Firekit squeaked, very excited.

Emberstar laughed, licking Firekit between his ears. He set him down and lifted his head as he heard Ashblade, his deputy calling for him.

"Go play Firekit." Emberstar ran off, heading for his den along with Ashblade. Firekit purred but let out a yelp as he felt an impact, falling backward.

"Hah, got you!" Flamekit, Firekit's brother, squealed as he held Firekit down.

"Not for long!" Firekit flipped their positions and now he was holding Flamekit down. They both laughed but it soon stopped as they heard yowling coming from the entrance of the camp.

"Frozenclan! Frozenclan intruders!" Blazepaw, Scorchingfire's apprentice, came running into the camp, a scared expression on his face.
