Cursedfire went throughout his day, waiting for the moon to rise. He needed to see Halfpelt. He just had to. Cursedfire watched as Flaremist went in and out of the nursery since she was now a queen, almost ready to have kits. He raised his head as he heard Sparkblast's yowl of distress.

"Help! Somebody help! Blackkit is missing!" Sparkblast yowled, running up to Cursedfire, making him get up.

"What do you mean Blackkit is missing?" Cursedfire asked, watching as Ashblade and Emberstar ran up to them.

"I turned my back for one moment and when I looked back he wasn't there anymore! I can't lose my kit! I can't!" Sparkblast cried. Bonfire ran over and nuzzled the weeping queen.

"We'll find him. Coalflare, Charcoalwing, Redwhisker, and Cursedfire go with Ashblade We're gonna search the whole forest!" Emberstar growled, running out of camp, his clanmates right behind him.

Cursedfire stopped as he ran out of camp, opening his mouth and scenting the air. He stood still, waiting for that familiar smell of Blackkit. Found it! Cursedfire opened his eyes and ran toward Flame Mountain, the scent getting stronger. But what Cursedfire didn't expect was the smell of something else with Blackkit.

Cursedfire got closer and the scent was very unfamiliar. He ran faster, fear filling up his mind. Cursedfire heard the slightest mews of distress as he got closer. He growled and ran through the trees, stumbling upon Blackkit cornered by a very large yellow cat, something Cursedfire had never seen before.

"Cursedfire! Help me!" Blackkit had spotted the warrior and was now crying for his help.

The large cat turned its head, spotting Cursedfire. Its eyes were pure black, filled with nothing but emptiness. It curled its lip back and snarled, pouncing towards Cursedfire. Cursedfire jumped back, letting out a loud yowl of distress.

Cursedfire ran underneath the large cat's body, towards Blackkit. He grabbed the kit by his scruff, running into the trees again. He could hear the loud stomping of paws chasing after him. Cursedfire turned away from the path towards the camp, running towards the Moonclan borderline.

Starclan if you hear my plea, help me. I need your help.

Just as Cursedfire was getting closer to the Moonclan border, his eyes widened as he felt a splitting pain in his leg. He tumbled, then rolled, and hit a tree, Blackkit falling out of his jaws. Cursedfire's leg burned like it was on fire. He let out cries of pain and looked down at his leg, seeing a large gash spilling out blood.

Cursedfire looked up, catching the eyes of the large cat, finally figuring out what it was. Inferno used to tell him stories about them. Sharptooth are, large dangerous creatures that could tear a cat to pieces. They could climb trees, had long claws, and huge fangs.

Cursedfire looked towards Blackkit, watching as the kit trembled with fear on the ground. Cursedfire tried to get up but cried once again with pain. He collapsed, his breathing slowing, and his eyelids grew heavy.

No. Not yet. Don't close your eyes Cursedfire. You can't die. You still haven't become leader. You have to save Blackkit, he too is part of your prophecy.

Cursedfire's eyes shot open as he heard Flamepaw's voice. He ignored the pain, lifting himself up. Blood ran down his leg as it pounded with pain. Cursedfire limped in front of Blackkit, staring right into Sharptooth's eyes.

"You have to kill me to get to him. I will always put my clanmates before me, they are the future of this clan. So kill me as you wish, but stay away from him." Cursedfire growled, standing tall as his wounded leg hovered over the ground.

"Cursedfire..." Blackkit mewed softly, looking at the brave warrior in front of him.

The Sharptooth looked down at Cursedfire, growling. It lifted its paw, its claws shining. Cursedfire stood taller, ready for the strike. Cursedfire spotted Ashblade running towards them from the corner of his eye. It was too late however, the Sharptooth had already attacked.

"Cursedfire!" Ashblade yowled as he watched Cursedfire's body fly back from the impact, slamming into a rock.

Cursedfire laid by the rock, his body sprawled out, and the side of his face pounding with pain along with his leg. He could barely keep his eyes open and his flank was rising and falling very slowly. Cursedfire could feel Blackkit's body cuddle up to him, hearing his mews of distress.

Is this it? I never get to be leader? I can never see Halfpelt again? I did my best, didn't I? Even if I didn't finish my prophecy?

Cursedfire opens his eye, watching as the rest of the search patrol clings onto the back of the Sharptooth. He purrs, everything going black.

Cursedfire opened his eyes and looked around, finding himself in a meadow. Is this Starclan? Am I really dead? Cursedfire looks around, feeling the soft grass under his paws.

"Cursedfire, you showed so much bravery." Cursedfire jumped as he heard a familiar voice.

"Inferno..." Cursedfire turned around and his eyes softened at the sight of his old clanmate.

"You're not dead Cursedfire, but you've completed another part of your prophecy." Inferno rasped, smiling.

"What? That was a part of my prophecy?" Cursedfire asked, making Inferno nod.

"But remember no matter what, you will always be a great warrior. Don't let your curse bring you down." The elder meowed, disappearing.

Cursedfire reached out, yowling for him to stay, but it was too late. Cursedfire's eye snapped open, the huge pounding pain coming back. He was in the medicine den, unable to stand and unable to see out of his left eye.

"Cursedfire! He's awake!" Cursedfire looked over, seeing Blackkit racing towards him, along with many of his other clanmates behind him.

They all surrounded Cursedfire, sharing tongues and praising him for what he had done. He lowered his ears, a little embarrassed. Cursedfire did notice, however, that some of his clanmates wouldn't look him in the face.

"I'm so glad you're alright. I thought you had died. You were so brave." Hethermoth mewed as she licked Cursedfire's head.

Cursedfire looked at her, also noticing how she wouldn't look at his face. What's wrong? Why won't they look at me? Cursedfire began to get up, yowling out in pain from his leg and head. His leg was wrapped up in cobwebs, blood still coating his fur.

"Cursedfire, don't get up, that could reopen your wounds." Smokecloud meowed sternly, making every cat get out of the cluttered-up den.

"Why won't they look at me?" Cursedfire looked at Smokecloud, tensing up. Was something wrong?

"Cursedfire...let me just show you..." Smokecloud grabbed a leaf, filling it with water from a puddle, going back over to Cursedfire.

"Look at yourself." Smokecloud set the leaf in front of the injured warrior, backing away right after.

Cursedfire looked down at his reflection, beginning to tremble as he saw the large ugly scar on his left eye. The claw marks of the Sharptooth would stay for the rest of Cursedfire's life.

Why? Why did it have to be that eye? Others will think I'm even more cursed now, they'll be terrified.

"I know what you are thinking Cursedfire, but it will be alright. Nothing will change, those marks aren't to show that you're cursed. They are to show others that you've gone against a Sharptooth and survived. Our scars tell stories, and so does that one." Smokecloud bowed his head, purring.

"Thank you for your wise words Smokecloud." Cursedfire meows softly, laying his head down, making Smokecloud smile.

"Now get some rest, it will take a little while for your leg to heal." Smokecloud meowed, walking out of his den.

It's almost sundown, I have to meet Halfpelt. Even if I have to drag myself there. I need to see her.
