Oneshot 1- My girlfriend is handsome <3

Summary: Nancy accidentally calls Robin handsome, sparking a realisation of both her own sexuality, and how much Robin likes to be called handsome. She makes use of all of the info she figures out <3

The first time it happens is a complete accident.

Nancy pays a visit to Family Video to see Steve and Robin during one of their shifts. She uses the excuse of getting a few films that Mike requested she get for him and his friends for after school. Yeah, she did have to do that, but Nancy would have otherwise said no if she weren't bored out of her mind, not at a college yet but out of school and still applying for jobs.

She walks in like normal, greets Steve and Robin like normal. Grabs the films she needs and walks to the counter like normal.

Completely misses how weirdly well styled Steve's hair is, not like normal.

It takes Steve nudging and asking 'Do you notice anything different, Nance?' and Robin huffing and explaining that he tried styling his hair differently and has been proud of how good it looks, for Nancy to really notice.

Nancy raises an eyebrow. "What? Did you want me to compliment your hair or looks or something?"

Steve rolls his eyes as Robin laughs, God that laugh, and grabs the films from Nancy, beginning the process of checking them out for her to take. "No, I just put a lot of effort into this and no one has noticed so far, no one. Like yeah, I know this boring uniform doesn't help but I thought at least one person so far would have at least pointed it out. I didn't get the nickname of 'Steve 'The Hair' Harrington' for nothing."

   "Dude, you literally said earlier that the uniform makes you look 'handsome'. Or has it taken hours of no comments for you to finally realise otherwise?" Robin says from where she stands sorting a pile of tapes.

Nancy laughs, enjoying listening to Steve and Robin bicker. She still doesn't understand how they aren't together with how close they are but the more she thinks about it, the more they do just seem like glorified siblings. It's in the moment right after she laughs at Robin's comment that she makes her first mistake.

   "I've got to agree with her there too, Steve. The uniform really doesn't help. The only one that can pull off looking handsome in it is Robin." Nancy has absolutely no idea what prompted her to say that, but the second she does she regrets it. Steve just smirks at her and says 'oh?' as if he's insinuating something that definitely isn't true. Robin's face instantly becomes flushed and for a brief moment Nancy thinks that maybe she actually likes that compliment but no, it's something else.

Nancy emphasises that it was just to tease Steve obviously, putting up the walls in her mind like normal, and does what she can to get through the rest of the interaction embarrassment free. As she leaves the store in a hurry and gets in her car, she thinks about how unusually quiet Robin had been after that. Surely the other girl didn't actually like being called 'handsome', right?

Not that that's Nancy's real main question. No. What she's really questioning is herself. Cause surely, she herself didn't actually think Robin was handsome when she called her that. She definitely still doesn't agree with that, right? Or that the other girl is beautiful and handsome and pretty all at the same time... right?

She shakes her head dismissively, starting her car, and turning the music up as she drives home. Next time Mike and his friends can get their movies themselves.
