There is a prejudice even in our world. Actually, it's not as much a prejudice as it is just a rare phenomena. Most of the time, hybrids find their mates with other hybrids. It's extremely rare for a hybrid to find their mate with a human. Since humans don't have a concept of mates and how important and sacred they are. Not to mention, humans can't find their mates like hybrids can. I know that they have a word for mates: soulmate. But from what Jimin had told us of the human world, it's more of a concept than something tangible.
I used to believe the same. The fact that hybrids and humans are just not meant to be together. Only because we are biologically different. Sure, we may share 50% of our DNA with humans but still, we're different. Different beliefs, different ways of life, different everything. But all my beliefs seemed to have just been thrown out the moment I saw her. A human.
I knew she was my mate as soon as I caught a whiff of her scent.
The moment she walked into my life, she had me wrapped around her finger. And she didn't even have to say a world. I could die for her. I could kill for her. I would do anything for her.
So when she insisted that I join her and Namjoon to the center to get my injuries checked out. I couldn't protest. I just nodded. It was pathetic but I didn't feel pathetic. She looked at me with such concern in her eyes, that I just obliged without a second thought.
The building that they brought us to was huge. It was bigger than Nana's building...or at least, that's what it felt like. It might have been because we were allowed to roam free wherever we wanted, except for the top floor. Apparently, that was where people worked, so it was out of bounds to anyone who wasn't a worker, but I didn't care. I was still able to go wherever I wanted. If I wanted to walk outside, I could. If I wanted to lay outside and feel the sun on my back, I could. Hell, I could even go to the washroom whenever I wanted. Or at least, that's what they told me.
So that's where Hoseok and I were. We were sitting on one of those things that the humans called benches. It was like a chair but made for multiple people to sit outside. We sat side by side in the jumpsuits that the humans prepared for us. It was the first time, I was wearing clothes and I have to admit, it was a very strange sensation but I liked it. It made me feel like I had privacy.
"Yoongi hyung! Hoseok-ie hyung!"
My ears twitched as soon as I heard the very familiar voices that I longed to hear. Sure enough, Hoseok and I were tackled by our three youngest mates.
"You were right!" "Did you see the building?" "Ice-cream is the best thing in the world!" The three of them hurriedly and excitedly told us.
"Ice-cream?" Hoseok asked while I opted to just raise my eyebrow at the strange new word.
Taehyung's eyes lit up as he nodded his head like an excited pup. "It's this sweet thing that melts in your mouth. You don't have to chew or anything!" He then dramatically sighed. "It was amazing."
"Ice-cream, huh? I'd better try some," I couldn't help but let out a chuckle.
The air around us tensed. Hoseok and I shared a look. We already had planned on telling them about Namjoon's condition. But we were planning on doing that after we told them about two more possible mates, with one being a human.
"He's not doing so good," I told them truthfully. Their ears all flopped on their heads and I could have sworn that they looked like they were puppies who were standing in the rain for too long.
"We thought..." Taehyung began but couldn't finish.
"We thought the humans might have been mistaken," Jungkook finished. "They might be mistaken right?"
"They aren't," I told them with a heavy sigh.
"Is he gonna..." Jimin struggled to finish.
Hoseok and I shared another look. I nodded. A silent conversation happening between us.
"Guys, listen," Hoseok began softly. Our youngest mates looked at us with worry. "There is this person. Her name is Bang Y/N-"
"Oh, that one ferret hybrid told us that she's in charge of his health," Taehyung piped up.
Hoseok nodded with a smile. "Well, we can trust her."
"We can?" The three spoke at the same time.
I nodded. "Hoseok and I, as well as Namjoon, believe that she's our mate," I broke the news to them.
Taehyung had a shocked look on him. Jungkook wore confusion on his face. And Jimin just nodded.
"But how is that possible?" Jungkook asked. "I thought humans and hybrids can't become mates?"
"It happens," Jimin informed our youngest.
"Does she know?" Taehyung asked carefully.
"We haven't been able to tell her," Hoseok explained. "Everything happened so fast, and with Namjoon being in the condition that he is, we didn't have any time to talk to her. But that's not all."
"Hoseok believes that we might have one more mate," I told them.
"Another one?" "Are they human, too?" "A female or a male?" They all asked at the same time.
"I don't know," Hoseok admitted. "I only got a soft whiff of their scent when they came to rescue us. Their scent seems to be on Y/N-ssi quite a bit. They might already know each other."
"Will it be safe?" Jimin asked, cautiously.
"What do you mean?" Taehyung asked. "They're a part of the company that saves hybrids right? How dangerous will they be?"
"I don't mean us," Jimin clarified. "Yoongi hyung and Namjoon-ie hyung are Nana's favourites."
Immediately all of us fell silent. Jimin didn't say it but what he was implying was very apparent.
"Like Taehyung said, they're a part of the company that already saved us. The entire company will protect us. All of us," Hoseok said with a firm nod.
We stayed silent but all of us hoped that Hoseok's words were true. If there was one thing that I didn't want to do was to go back. Especially if we have two more mates.
