The score was 6-4. We just have to get three outs, then we get that third title win. I walked out onto the field. I could feel the eyes on me. I put on my mask to hide my facial reaction when I put my glove on. You can do this. I took in a deep breath, and put my glove over my hand.
It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Okay, next step is to catch a ball. I squatted down behind the plate and gave Macy the sign to pitch a fastball. Normally during warm-ups I'll let her pitch what she wants, but I need to make sure I can catch her hardest pitch.
She started her wind up. Next thing I knew I'm holding in screams.
Breathe. I can do this. I threw the ball back to Macy. Breathe. I gave her the fastball sign again. She shook her head. I gave it again. She did as so. It didn't hurt as much that time. Probably from the numbness. I made her throw two more of those. It's not so bad anymore. It hurts like hell, but still not as bad.
"Batter up!" the ump yelled.
"Coming down!" I shouted. Everybody got ready for my throw down. Macy pitched an inside fastball and I threw it perfectly to second base. Okay. Let's win this game.
********************************************
"Two down!" I shouted as I got a throw down out at second. The bases were empty. Mallory was up. I was waiting for some rude comment like I always get, but she didn't say a word. The score was 6-5. I gave Macy an inside fastball. She did as so. Mallory let it go by giving her one strike.
I gave Macy another inside fastball. Mallory didn't let this one go by, she hit that sucker. It made its way to the fence. She was pretty fast, so she pulled a triple off of it. Shit. Shit. Shit. Their coach called a timeout. Good, I hate calling timeouts, it shows weakness.
I walked up to Macy. "What are we going to do!?" she asked actually starting to panic. I tried to calm her down, but she wouldn't budge.
"Macy!" I shouted, she jumped and looked at me. "Shut the hell up. You're showing the other team that your scared and that's only good for them. Now look at Matt."
"What?"
"Look at Matthew Lee Espinosa! Now." She did as so. He smiled and waved at her. Her cheeks got red and she smiled. "Okay, now that you're calmed down, they're doing a squeeze bunt."
"How do you know that?"
"While you were falling head over heals for Matt again, I was reading their coaches lips."
"Hey that's our thing!" She said.
"Cry me a river," I said, "but after we finish this game!"
She laughed then got serious, "What about your hand?"
"Oh it's definitely broken," I said turning around going back to home plate.
"Rae!" She practically shouted.
"What? I'll be fine, it's not like it could get any worse than it already is," I said shrugging my shoulders.
"Are you even human Dallas?" she asked.
"Nope!" I said popping the 'p'.
I finally got back to home plate. I lifted up my mask. "Two outs! We got Sierra Bravo! Sierra Bravo!" Yeah our team uses the phonetic alphabet for plays. Obviously sierra bravo stands for squeeze bunt. Everyone adjusted.
Macy pitched the ball, the girl put the bat out and put the ball practically right in front of me. I could see Mallory running in from the corner of my eye. I grabbed the ball, secured it in my glove, and dove for Mallory. We laid in the dirt, I know I had the tag on her, but I don't know if she's on the plate.
"Out!" The ump shouted. I smiled and sighed in relief. Mallory stood up. She looked down at me, the reached out her hand to help me up. I took the offer and she pulled me up.
"That was one heck of a game Dallas."
"See you next year Black?" I asked putting my hand out to her.
"You bet," she said smiling then shaking my hand, "And I'm sorry about your hand, I'll pay for the doctor bill and stuff. I didn't mean to step on it."
"It's alright, accidents happen, you don't need to pay anything."
She smiled. "Well I better go get practicing for next year."
"You're on," I said, we ended up hugging each other then parted ways to our teams. They started a dog pile so I jumped on top completing it. We were all screaming and cheering. Macy and I stood up and hugged each other.
"That's three Rae," she said.
"Let's get one more."
"Why wouldn't we?" We both were laughing then all of a sudden I was picked up off my feet.
"That was amazing sis!" Cam said putting me down.
"I wouldn't have gotten this far without you training me bro!" I said giving him a real hug. "Listen I don't mean to sound rude or anything but where's Nash? I want to see him." I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned to see the blue eyed boy staring into my eyes.
"You were amazing out there."
"Thanks," I said smiling.
"Listen I-" he started but was interrupted. When he saw Brett, he walked away to Cam talking to Paige.
"Hey babe, I told my dad the situation with your hand and now aren't leaving for Magcon until tomorrow morning," Brett said.
I nodded, "I'm going to the hospital after this, you should probably go and help your dad with all of the stuff."
"I was planning to, but of course I had to see my favorite girl first," he said kissing my forehead. I don't know why he did that because I'm really sweaty.
"Who's that!? Taylor Swift!?" I asked sarcastically.
He laughed, "No, Miley Cyrus! I like the crazy ones." He said jokingly wiggling his eyebrows. "Anyway! Magcon 2015 starts tomorrow!" He shouted putting his hands in the air.
"You're still going to Magcon?!" I heard a voice practically yell.
