Chapter 8 : A date for the Halloween Ball
(Holly and Olivia are wearing this, Katie and beth this)
I woke up the next day to the rain pattering down outside my window. I let out a groan and got up out if bed. It was 5 AM and I was awake, thank you nature! I got changed and crept down into the common room and tested a spell I have been working on since Remus had mentioned the fact my mum had been trying to create a healing spell for him so that he didn't have the scars after his werewolf transformations. I have so far invented a spell that will help girls do their hair quicker. All they have to do is say "nimirum colore mutato" and think of their favourite hairstyle there is also a counter spell for it so your hair goes back to normal the next day. I then work on my spell that will heal Remus after a full moon and an idea hits me, I should test my spell on a dummy, the dummy being Cedric. So I tucked my notebook safely away in my pocket and began to tiptoe up to the boys dorms where Cedric was sleeping soundly. I whisper the spell and his hair changes to bubblegum pink and it was styled into a straight spiky style. I tiptoe downstairs back into the common room. It's the Halloween Ball tomorrow and i still haven't gotten a date. It should be fun because neither has Cedric or Holly. We all have to go to Hogsmeade for our outfits for it and honestly i don't care what i wear. I just can't wait for Cedric to wake up.
-breakfast-
Holly came down a few hours later and we started to walk down to the great hall when a shout could be heard behind us. "OLIVIA LOUISE ALCOVE!!! YOU ARE SO DEAD!!!" i look at Holly and she mouths
"run" so i ran all the way to the teachers table in the great hall and see remus.
"Can i hide behind you?" i ask
"What have you done this time?" he asks shaking his head slightly and i open my mouth to answer when Cedric burst into the great hall with his Bubblegum Pink hair and that is what drove Remus to laughter.
"OLIVIA WHERE ARE YOU?!?!" Yells Cedric
"Mr. Diggory?" Says Remus
"Yes Sir."
"She's right here!" said remus laughing at my shocked face and shrugged "You never mess with a dude's hair." he said and i ran to Dumbledore who looked amused at what was said.
"help me." i say
" Miss alcove, i am afraid i will have to agree with professor Lupin on this one. You shouldn't have messed with Mr Diggory's hair." he said and Cedric rushed forward and put me over his shoulder.
"Seriously, will nobody help me?" i ask the hall from over Cedric's Shoulder. "Nobody? Okay then! I can now apologise to anybody who can now see my arse because Cedric is holding me in this way." i add and jab Cedric hard in the back so that he drops me. "But that, i am not sorry for. Cedric you better be nicer to me if you want me to do the counter-curse." i say from the floor and i got a smile.
"Touche, little sis." he said and helped me up.
"We can match if you like." i say and turn my hair the same shade of bubblegum pink using my metamorphagus powers.
"Nah, just turn me back."
"Fine." i say and grab my wand and notebook, my hair changing back to it's usual brown as i do. I find the right spell and whisper "inritum facio" and his hair started to change back to normal, The pink seemed to crawl back inside his head and his hair grew out a little. Once the spell had done It's work his hair glowed a little but subsided after a few minutes.
"Thanks." he said and i just shrugged. I went to grab a bowl of Cheeri-owls and he stops me. "Will you go to the Halloween Ball with me? as friends of course." he said hopefully.
"as Friends?" i ask and he nods "Sure." I say and he hugs me
"good because I'm not letting any boy break your heart just yet, okay?" He says letting go of my arm
"okay, bro." I say and get my bowl of cheeri owls. The rest of breakfast passes without much incident apart from cho chang looking pretty cheesed off. Can't say i care really, she wanted to play this game so let it play.
-In Hogsmeade-
"so he just asked you? Just like that?" asked Katie for the hundredth time already this trip since i told them about Cedric asking me to the Halloween Ball.
"Yeah but he's more like the over-protective brother i never had. Lets just find some kind of costume for the ball." i said and Katie just raised her eyebrows but she just shrugged it off.
"So then, what are we all going to go as? I'm going as little red riding hood" asked Holly.
"I don't know yet, what about you guys." i say thinking carefully about what sort of style i want to go for.
"Well, i've had this planned since last year..." started Katie
"We know you have." Said beth who earned herself a death glare before Katie Continued
"...And I was thinking of going as Cinderella, from the muggle stories." she said adding the last bit on later as if we didn't know what cinderella was. we all shook our heads at her and Beth was the next to answer
"I'm going as a Muggle Vampire." she said smiling, "I hope the first years aren't too scared of me."
"I dunno You're pretty scary now." i say and then burst out laughing.
"good one.." said beth sarcastically but still joined in laughing. we went to a dress shop in hogsmeade and looked for the right things to make up the outfits that we wanted. After a few hours of looking i had almost given up when Holly said
"Olivia, over here!" and i walked over. "Go in that dressing room and try this on, Don't ask questions or say anything until you get it on. Okay?"
"Fine." I say and walk into the dressing room. I pick up the dress which was composed of lace and silk. it was purple and black and it fit like a glove even though i was really skinny from starving myself last year. I step out of the changing room to holly smiling.
"What do you think?" she asked
"It's beautiful. how much was it?" i ask
"5 galleons." she said
"Is that all?" i ask surprised
"Pretty much and you already have a bag and shoes to match!" she exclaimed and i went back into the changing room feeling a little brighter than i had been feeling previously. I changed back into my normal clothes and paid for the dress, and we left the shop.
-Dinner-
We went back up to school at 5 PM and dropped our shopping in our dorm rooms. Holly, Cedric and I all went down to the great hall together. Once we had gotten down there, Harry came up to me and said "Olivia?"
"Yeah?" i say
"Can we talk? In Private?" he asked trying to sound polite.
"Erm...Okay then." I say and let him lead me from the great hall and into an empty classroom. "Whats the matter, Harry?" i ask
"It's about Sirius Black, He killed your Godfather and sold out my parents to Voldemort, his best friends and the thing is He;s my Godfather." he said in a rush.
"I knew Harry and I'm sorry but Lupin told me not to tell you. He's my Godfather." I say to a confused Harry.
"Oh, well did you know he's after the both of us?"
"Why both of us?"
"Because you got away from his master, They said it in Hogsmeade."
"Who's They, harry?"
"It doesn't matter, don't go after him because i think thats how he found your parents too, Voldemort when he killed your mum. Just be careful okay?"
"Harry, what are you-"
"Just promise me." he said and i nodded,"thank you" he said and we left the room. we parted ways in the great Hall to our house tables where i got a pretty weird look from Holly and i just shrugged. I ate a little bit and then looked at holly again.
"Whats up?" I asked
"Nothing I just wish you would eat more." she replied and I just shrugged again. Once dinner was over I went straight to my dorm to write a letter to my dad wherever he was.
Dad,
hey it's me, your daughter. how are you? I am honestly a little scared I don't have you here to protect me so I really hope I find you soon before Sirius Black finds me or you for that matter. Anyway, I have a "date" to the Halloween ball and before you read this and freak out I was asked by Cedric who is nothing more than a big brother to me. I honestly don't know what I'd do without him. I really want to find you so I can talk to you about mum. I don't understand why you left me at the Saunders house and why I couldn't stay with you. I can't let you die without knowing where I am and how I'm doing. anyway I have literally no more space left to write so yeah love you
