Chapter 9: Halloween
I woke up by the desk in the dorm early the next morning. I decided that it would be easier to just to get ready for school as i had Potions Class first with big nose, brilliant. I showered and then i got changed into my gray "the unicorns made me do it" jumper and black ripped skinny jeans. I had just finished clasping up my Unicorn necklace when Holly began to stir and i got an idea. She was always complaining about her hair being unmanageable in the morning and she loved wavy styles too. I got out my wand and whispered "nimirum colore mutato" and her hair kept it's normal colour but wavy. I move out of the room as she wakes up. I can use this spell for good now and it was the full moon last night so Remus won't be in the great hall. i sigh as i begin to walk out of the common room hoping that my godfather is okay.
-time skip-
halfway through breakfast Holly came rushing towards me attracting a lot of male attention. "Thank You so much! you are the best friend I could ever have!" she exclaimed giving me a hug
"What do you mean?" i ask
"THe hair spell you invented. you used it on me didn't you?" she said confused
"Yeah I kinda did." i say laughing "You look amazing!" i add as she smiles
"I really appreciate what you've done for me. I can help you change after potions class in break this morning if you like?" she asks as she grabs a bowl of cheeri owls, looking a little hopeful.
"Okay then. i will let you dress me up even if it is for a few hours." i said as she began to eat. Once she had finished we had to make our way down to potions with big nose. We walked down the staircases towards the dungeons and joined the line of hufflepuffs waiting to enter the classroom. Katie and Beth were already in the Ravenclaw line and we waved to them as Snape Big Nose came down the corridor.
"Enter." he said in his monotonously as the Huffflepuff line walked in first. Holly and I sat at our usual table at the back of the room nearest the door and got our books out when we were soon joined by Beth and Katie. Snape Big Nose glared at us and we all fell silent once again.
"Alcove, Olivia." He said
"yes, sir." i say brightly and he glared at me again.
"5 points from Hufflepuff, miss Alcove." he said and i open my mouth to speak but Holly just grabs my arm and shakes her head at me. Snape smirked and carried on taking the register. he ended with "Vane, Veronica" who was a ravenclaw girl.
"Today we will be brewing the Antidote to common poisons, I expect there to be a potion at the end of the lesson and if any one foolish enough to present me with a Bezoar will be getting a detention and a zero for this task. You may begin." he said and the instructions appeared on the board. they read:
Part 1

Add 1 Bezoar to the mortar
Crush into a very fine powder using the pestle
Add 4 measures of the crushed Bezoar to your cauldron
Add 2 measures of Standard Ingredient to your cauldron
Heat to a medium temperature for 5 seconds
Wave your wand
Leave to brew and return in 40 minutes
Part 2
Add 1 pinch of Unicorn Horns to your cauldron​
Stir 2 times, clockwise
Add 2 Mistletoe Berries to your cauldron
Stir 2 times, anti-clockwise
Wave your wand to complete the potion
I read through the instructions twice before going to the ingredient cupboard at the back of the classroom and grabbed the desired ingredients for this particular brew. I then crushed and stirred and waved my wand and after 1 hour I had finished the potion. I filled a crystal flask with the potion and put it on Snape's desk. I then proceeded to clean up my mess from the making of the potion. I then sat and helped Holly with her potion which was close to exploding. "Don't bother adding anything else to the potion." I say whilst looking through the potions book before it exploded in out faces. I was too late, we were covered in the slime from head to toe. I cleaned Holly for her and said "Look if he asks it was my fault. I told you to add the wrong ingredient okay?"
"Are you sure?" she asked and I nodded as Katie and Beth cleaned themselves up. "Okay then." she agreed.
"What is going on over here?" asked Snape
"I accidentally told her to add the wrong ingredient sir, It was completely my fault." I say loyally
"Really miss alcove? I think that you should redo your potion in detention on Friday, my office, 5 PM sharp." he sneered as I waited for the punch line "and that's 20 points from Hufflepuff ." and there it is! the ultimate punch line (not!), "Class Dismissed" he said and we all rushed out in a flurry of excitement that the class was over. I now had to go change my clothes due to the foul smelling solution on them. I rushed up to the Dorm with holly so that we could pick out a new outfit for the next few hours. Holly got to work at once quickly pulling clothes from her own trunk and stopped when she pulled out a dark blue dress and said
"Here you can keep this, Its too big on me anyway and you're taller than me."
"I couldn't possibly take this from you." i say but she throws it at me.
"Keep it, it never fit right anyway." she said brightly.
"Fine but at least have this, It's way too small for me now." i say and hand over the dress. we both change into our chosen outfits and go back to lessons. I was wearing this and holly was wearing this.
-End of lessons-
We ran out of the History Of magic classroom to get ready for the ball that would take place tonight. We had a few hours so Holly brought Katie and Beth into our common room and up to the dorm so that we could all get changed whilst I went to the piano room for a little bit so I could write a song to let all of my fustrations out. I tried and failed at first but after a few tries I got it right.

I wrote it about what happened last year and the fact I self harmed and how I walked around normally like nothing was wrong but inside I was screaming for help. I decided that it was time to get ready for the ball so I had to move fast as the actual ball started in one hour. I picked up my bag and left the Room of Requirement. I watched the door dissolve back into the wall and began to walk back down to Hufflepuff common room. I walked silently up the stairs and towards the dorm room. my hand was on the door knob when I heard voices coming out of it.
"Who does she think she is anyway? She can't tell us what to think." said Katie I think
"I know, but Olivia-" started Holly
"But nothing, did you not hear about the things she did last year? I say we ask her about it."
Oh shit, Oh shit. They're gonna ask about Lockhart. I thought
"Look, I don't mean to come off as rude but It's Livia's Business and I we respect that she hasn't told us yet maybe she isn't ready to tell us why yet, in due time she will though." said holly.
I didn't give Katie a chance to reply as I walked into the room and over to my trunk where my make up was hidden.
"where have you been?" asked Holly
"Had to go to the Library then sat by the black lake. why?" I lied.
"No reason, Do you want me to do your makeup?" she said
"erm...Okay then." I say and she got to work almost immediately.
-Time skip-
I was done with 15 minutes to the ball. I had gotten changed moments earlier. I used my spell for my hair and wore this,Whereas, Holly katie and beth all wore this .
I began to descend the stairs into he common room to wait for holly, Katie and Beth to come down from my dorm. around 5 minutes later they came downstairs and we made our way to the Great hall where Cedric was waiting.
I make my way towards him my dress moving in each step i took. I got to him and his mouth was hanging open. "like what you see?" i say teasing him
"No, youre like a sister to me, Liv." he said hesitantly.
"mmm hmmmm." i said disbelievingly and we both burst into laughter.
"May I have this Dance" He said
"you may." i say and we walk hand in hand into the great hall. it was decorated spectacularly, there were pumpkins floating from the ceiling and the house tables were pushed against the sides filled with food and drink. Bats flew from one end to the next and cobwebs hung from the rafters. The Tables were laden with the normal food and a lot of sweets, Chocolate Frogs, Every Flavour beans, Liquorice Wands etc. Cedric and I walked out into the middle of the floor where couples were already dancing. He took my waist and kept hold of my hand.
"I can't dance." I say
"It's alright neither can I, We'll have to teach each other then." he says and we begin to dance.

After a lot of toe trampling and giggling, We decided to call it quits. I had been dancing for 3 hours straight and Dumbledore was going to break it up soon anyway. "Olivia, can I ask you something?" he asked
"You just did but ask away." I reply
"Will you go out with me?"
"What?!?" I ask in surprise.
"Will you Olivia LouiseAlcove, Please be my girlfriend?" he asked again
