All that I could do was nod my head, and glue my eyes to floor.

Chapter 7: Shadows

"WHAT?" Edward exclaimed appearing right in front of me, "How could you do that? It must have hurt you to insane amounts. Are you insane!' He exclaimed

I stood my ground, and answered him with a straight face, "I think that ship sailed long ago. If you haven't noticed," I stopped for a moment, "I'm talking to fictional vampires from Twilight." I answered turning to the door, and running out as fast as my feet could possibly carry me.

I had no idea where I was running to, or how far I planned on going. That was not a concern at the time being. All that I knew was that if I didn't get as far away from here as possible, I would break down.

My mind tried to wonder off multiple times to the Cullens, but I wouldn't allow it. I needed a break from them.

I stopped for a minute to get a better understanding of what state I was in, by the looks of it, Canada. How do I always end up in Canada?

I found a comfortable looking rock to sit on, and sat down. I didn't feel like going back home, and I most certainly did not want to go back to the Cullens household.

Edwards words kept repeating themselves over and over again in my head. "Are you insane?" I already knew that answer, but I always tried to brush it off. I never expected to hear it coming from somewhere other than my own mind.

I groaned in frusturation, "What the hell do I do?" I whispered to myself

"You can stop talking to yourself for starters." I heard a familiar voice

"Seth?" I questioned into the wind

"Yup," he answered jogging into the empty space, "That's me." he smiled, and I couldn't help but give a smile back. I have always liked Seth, he always seemed so happy and proud.

"Why aren't you questioning me about how I know your name?" I smirked slightly

"Oh," he stopped for a beat, and walked over to where I was sitting,"Cause the Cullens called us all down for an emergancy meeting. They already explained everything. It's pretty cool what you do, you know." he smiled warmly

I grinned back at him, "Thanks. I wish that I could agree with you right now." I sighed

"Why can't you?" he asked, moving closer to me. I could feel the warmth radiating from him, and I couln't help but scoot closer.

"Because everything is all messed up. I never wanted to hurt anyone. I was perfectly happy with staying invisable." I groaned again

He chuckled, "Staying in the shadows is never a good thing," he stopped for a beat, and looked up to the now setting sun, "Sometimes it may seem easier and better to just stay hidden and safe, but really when you do that, your hurting yourself." he finished, and his warm brown eyes quickly flashed over to my own.

I smiled a small grin at him, "Maybe, but what if you end up hurting the ones you love?" I asked quietly, directing my eyes to the ground.

"Jess, you didn't hurt anyone. Your only hurting yourself trying to always protect us." his eyes locked with my own, "I promise you that I will be here for you. Whenever you need me." he said, grabbing my hands into his own large ones, and turning his torso to face me.

He flinched slightly as my now, cold skin came into contact with his own, "Wow, your freezing." he replied wrapping his arms around my shoulders, and pulling me in closer to him. I couldn't help but snuggle deeper into his chest.

I looked up at him surprised at the gesture, but he just smiled his cheeky grin, and for once in my life I didn't feel like I had to protect anyone in harms way. I finally felt like someone was protecting me.

LOVE IT? HATE IT? LET ME KNOW! THIS CHAPTER HAS A BIT OF FORESHADOWING THAT IS ACTUALLY QUITE EVIDENT... WHAT DO YOU THINK WILL HAPPEN? WILL SETH AND JESSICA BECOME MORE THAN JUST FRIENDS? WILL SHE GO BACK TO THE CULLENS? YES, NO, MAYBE SO??? LET ME KNOW!
