"Fuck! I bet it doesn't even have a blue badge" Louis cursed as he saw the accessible parking spot was occupied and continued searching for a spot at the crowded supermarket.
He finally found a spot big enough that would allow him to get out if he parked the passenger's side as close as possible for the car next door. Leaving space enough for its owner to enter it.
He unloaded his bright red custom wheelchair's frame and placed the wheels on before braking it. He lifted his legs out of the car, used his arms to wiggle to the edge and lift himself to transfer to the chair.
He carefully rolled between the cars trying not to bump them and took a few reusable bags, his reach clamp and his basket from the car boot. When he had everything, he pulled the hanging strap down, closing the boot, and locked the car before rolling to the store.
He wheeled up the curb doing a wheelie, and started shopping for what he needed, placing the items in the basket on his lap. He didn't need many things as he usually did a big shoppig online and got everything delivered at home as it was far more comfortable for him, but he always forgot something. So, here he was, weaving inside the crowd searching the aisles for his favourite cereals.
"Why are coco pops always so high up?" Louis complained, stretching his reach clamp to make the box tumble down for him to catch with his other hand.
He was inspecting the different fruits and vegetables with a frown on his face, trying to decide which ones he hated less, when he felt someone moove him out of their way.
"There young man. I hope you get better" The middle aged man spoke.
Louis closed his eyes and breathed in and out, trying to keep his temper as not to punch the man. "I don't plan to, if I'm honest, but next time I'd appreciate if you just told me to move. I'm in a wheelchair, I'm not a piece of furniture" He spoke, his anoyance making a clear appearance the end.
The man just walked away mumbling something about people being too full of themselves and Louis just chucked some bananas, mushrooms and a couple ognions in before rolling to the next aisle, getting some yoghurts.
He was about to go to th cash register when he saw a young girl, sitting on the floor and bawling her eyes out.
"Hey, Love. I'm Louis. What's wrong?" He spoke softly after aproaching her.
"I get chee' fo' mumma but I no see mumma" The girl replied between snifles as she looked up with her big red rimmed eyes.
"Oh! Don't worry love. We'll find her. But I need you to stop crying, hm? I'm sure you're a brave girl helping mumma do the shopping" He tried to calm her down, and wipping her tears.
She nodded with a pout holding up the cheese in her hand.
"Here, do you want to sit on my lap as we go find her?" He asked, patting his lap for her to climb up after hanging the basket at the back of his chair.
"Mhm. I got red wa'ker when I no know how to wa'k" She spoke as he helped her up.
"That's cool. What's your name, love?" Louis chuckled, looking around for someone who could be the girl's mum as he rolled to the cash register to get help.
"Mhm. I Mila" She nodded.
As they got nearer, Louis could hear a woman screaming.
"Mila! There you are! You scared me, my baby...Thank God you're okay" A woman with frantic green eyes, much like the girl's, aproached them screaming and reaching out to take Mila. "Thank you so much for finding her... um..."
"Louis. It was my pleasure. You've got a smart young girl here" He nodded and smiled at the pair that was still hugging tightly.
"Thank you, really. I'm Gemma" The woman smiled
