"He took her on a witch hunt, Lily. Corpses are strewn across our home and blood stains our courtyard. She is growing more savage by the day, and Klaus is letting her." Elijah paces across the library Klaus built for me as I sit, legs tucked up in a chair, with a book in hand. "We asked him to help, but I'm afraid we put too much trust in him. He is allowing her to fall apart."
Closing my book, I set it on the table next to me. "What do you want me to do about it, Elijah? You know just as well as me that Nik only does what he wants to do."
Elijah pauses his pacing to look at me intently. "I need you to talk to him, Lily. Show him a better way of helping her heal, of saving her dignity and reaching her humanity."
Shaking my head, I stand up from my chair, crossing to Elijah and placing a hand on his shoulder. "I understand that you're worried about Hayley, Elijah. But have you considered that maybe this is what she needs? Maybe she needs the ugly and the terror to heal. She lost her child. She died. Her life is changing so much right now, so you cannot expect her to just take it with a smile. Sometimes, people need to go through darkness to get to the light on the other side." Elijah's lips part, in a protest I'm sure, but I raise a finger, stopping him. "Now, Iike you, I am not a fan of the useless and wicked slaughtering of witches the two have been partaking in. Therefore, I will try to encourage Klaus to try another method of processing Hayley's grief with her, but you need to do the same as well. We stand a better chance of swaying the stubborn minds of Hayley and Nik together. Though, I still think you need to start coming to terms with the fact that Hayley is changing. After all she's gone through in the last few months, it's inevitable. So instead of fighting it, try to start accepting it." I step away from Elijah and raise a brow.
He nods, his mood still low. Though his initial frustration from when he blew in here this morning after coming across the scene of blood and corpses in the courtyard has lessened. "Very well, then. See you later?" I ask. Elijah nods again, confirming our plans of visiting Marcel this afternoon. As Elijah exits, my eyes drift to the painting on the wall in front of me. It was a gift from a Klaus. It's the garden he was painting when I returned from the Other Side, the garden where we first admitted our feelings to one another. I smile at the painting briefly, before I sigh off to find my paramour and resolve this murderous binge.
Leaving my library and book behind, I venture through the house until I find Klaus slumped in a chair in the dining room with his own book. "You know if you wanted quiet while reading, you don't need to hide out here. The library is open to you as well." Klaus smiles up at me as I step further into the room, and he sets his book down on the table. I move next to him, leaning back against the dining table as I glance down upon him.
"Ah, but I constructed that room for you. I do not wish to impart on your oasis." I grin at his words and as his hands find my hips, pulling me down to straddle him in his seat. "Now, let me guess. Are you here to lecture me about Hayley too? Because I can ensure you Elijah already gave me his two-cents."
Wrapping my arms around his neck, I sigh. "The witches, really?"
Klaus looks appalled at my words as he tenses. "They tried to kill my child."
"Yes, I know, and I understand your anger, but don't you think we should start trying to make them an ally so this doesn't happen again, rather then continuing to antagonize them?"
Klaus scoffs. "Now, you sound like Elijah. You two have been spending too much time together." I frown. Klaus sighs at the sight of it. "Look, Love, I know that because of your Cece, you feel a gratitude towards witches, but your Cece was only one witch. Although I know you want to see the good in witches, it is time you realize, Lily, that they will never return the favor. Witches only view vampires as abominations. Your Cece was a rare one who gave our kind a chance. However, these witches, the witches of New Orleans, they decided long ago to never extend that gift to us."
