I lean against the door frame of Elijah's room, watching as Klaus hovers over his brother. His eyes are closed as he tries to reach Elijah, who's still asleep, trapped in his dreams. A change in the air alerts me to Hayley's presence as she steps up to my side, her eyes focused on Elijah and Klaus. "What is he doing?" She whispers to me, nodding toward Klaus.

"He's in Elijah's head, trying to reach him and bring him back." My eyes glance over to her to find confusion on her face. I give her a small smile. "Another vampire gift that will take you a while to learn, baby vamp. It's hard to do and takes age and strength to master it."

Hayley considers this for a moment, tilting her head to look at me. "Have you done it before?"

I nod. "I have, but it can be invasive. I prefer to do it rarely and only in the most necessary cases." Hayley nods beside me, turning her attention back to the brothers.

"It looks hard to do," she comments, most likely noticing the strain on Klaus's face.

"It can be, depending on the strength of the person's mind. An Original like Elijah," I shake my head, "only another Original could manage to accomplish this."

"Let me in," Klaus whispers to his brother, one hand on Elijah's chest and the other on his head. Elijah's body shakes and sweats as he dreams what I can only assume are nightmares. "Let me help end whatever torment she has forced upon you." Klaus's voice is desperate as he tries to reach his brother. My heart pulls at the sight, especially as Klaus's nose starts to drip with blood.

"Nik." I'm quick to stride to his side, reaching for his shoulder and pulling him out of Elijah's head. Klaus is startled by my actions, looking at me with shock. "You're bleeding," I tell him, grabbing the towel I had brought to Elijah's room earlier, along with a bowl of cool water to soothe him, and bring it to his nose, wiping the blood away.

Klaus watches my actions with defeat in his eyes. My hand cups his cheek as I run my thumb along his cheekbone to comfort him. "Esther's locked me out."

As I clean Klaus up, Hayley steps closer to Elijah's bedside. "Klaus. Lily." She says, gaining our attention. We turn around to see her pull Elijah's t-shirt down to expose some weird red markings on the side of Elijah's neck. "Is this rash a side effect of the witchy acid trip he's on?" She asks.

Klaus steps forward to examine it. Then, realization sets into his eyes. "I haven't seen this since I was a child. Mikael would return home from battle more blindly temperamental than usual, and our mother would use the petals of a rare Merlock orchid to put him to sleep. She would mend his mind with a spell, and then wake him with the roots of the same plant." Klaus's eyes find mine, a new hope in them. "If she has access to it now, then maybe it also grows in the Bayou." He steps to my side, planting a kiss to my forehead as he moves toward the door. "I'll find it. You stay here and mind the fort."

My brows raise at his order as I cross my arms. Klaus sighs, pausing in his step as he realizes how his words came out. "Please, Lily. I need to know that you're here and safe. My mother has already come after you once. I refuse her another chance to do so again."

"Killing her would eliminate her opportunity at another chance."

"Lily," Klaus says a bit sternly.

I roll my eyes, sighing. "I know, I know. She'll just body jump blah, blah, blah." I watch as Klaus bites back a smile at my attitude. Instead, he shoots me a look reminiscent of one I would give him when trying to convince him not to be impulsive and murderous. "Fine." I raise my hands. "I won't go after her." Klaus's look sharpens. "I promise," I add. Seeming pleased with my promise, Klaus flashes me a small smile before he leaves.
