I wake up, tangled in sheets. Turning on my side, I bury my face into the pillow, hiding from the sun trying to peek through the curtained windows. My head feels heavy as does my heart. I know I should get up, move, but the willpower to do so is lacking. I feel weighed down. I close my eyes again, deciding reality can wait a little longer.
The fear I felt last night drifts away as I fall back to sleep. For my fear is another thing I'll have to sort out later.
Klaus's POV
In Rousseau's, I pace as I wait for Sophie to return. Lily didn't show up this morning. I have no idea where she is, and after five of my calls ended in voicemail, I decided to direct my distress somewhere else. I need answers. And Sophie Deveraux will provide them.
When Sophie enters the kitchen of Rousseau's, I grab her, vamp speeding her back to the Manor, where I deposit her in a chair. Rebekah stands in front of said chair with her arms crossed. Before the witch has time to process her new location, I jump on her. "We had a deal!" I roar. "You protect my unborn child, I dismantle Marcel's army. And whilst I've been busy fulfilling my part of the bargain, you allowed Hayley to be attacked and almost killed by a gaggle of lunatic witches." I fall back onto the couch, across from Sophie.
Sophie looks between my sister and I frantically. "I had nothing to do with it, I swear. Hayley and I are linked, remember? She dies, I die."
"Then who were they?" Rebekah asks the witch, confused.
"They are a faction of extremists." Sophie sighs. "Sabine stupidly told them about some vision she had about the baby."
"What kind of vision?" I question with narrowed eyes.
"She has them all the time. They are totally open to interpretation. I'm guessing she's wrong on this one." Sophie folds her hands, leaning forward as she speaks.
"Well, how, may I ask, was this particular vision interpreted?" Leaning back against the couch, I raise a brow in intrigue as I try to understand just what it is that these witches really want.
Sophie hesitates for a moment before replying. "Pretty much that your baby would bring death to all witches."
At her words, I straighten. "Ah, well. I grow fonder of this child by the second." I smirk.
"Sophie, look." Rebekah sighs as she sits on the couch next to me. "I promised Elijah that I would protect the Mikaelson miracle-baby whilst he tries to win your witch Davina's loyalty. Why don't you tell me just how extreme this faction is?"
"Elijah's talking to Davina?" Sophie echoes in shock. The little witch, Davina, had removed Elijah's dagger yesterday. Rebekah found out when she went in search of his body and found in him in the attic of St. Anne's Church. She then informed me that Elijah plans to stay in an attempt to gain Davina's trust and get her to unlink Sophie and Hayley.
"Yeah. As we speak, I imagine," Rebekah responds calmly.
Sophie casts her eyes downward in a slump. "I'm guessing she'll have plenty to say about that crowd."
"Do tell," I mutter, leaning forward to hear Sophie's response. Rebekah follows suit. I had a feeling that there was something about Davina that the witches were hiding from us. The thought leads to me to think of Lily, and her intelligent mind. If she was here, she probably would have sussed their whole scheme out by now.
The thought of the women I love and her current unknown location makes me tense and anxious, yet I attempt to put those feelings aside for now as I wait for Sophie's explanation.
