[2nd of April, South of Italy.]
Having spent all yesterday figuring out what the whole thing could mean for her future, it was time to go about her travel plans with gusto. It was unreal how they had gotten onto the team of date, but it could also just be something he said – nevertheless, it was also exciting to think about it like that, not that she had thought about it at all.
Also, it wasn't like they wouldn't talk to one another before Greece like they said because we always managed to say something to one another either way.
So, with that, she packed up her hotel room, and with some help from her elves, she managed to get from Sicilia to Bari, in the Puglia region and the province of Bari on the coast of the Adriatic Sea. It's the second most important economic centre on the mainland in southern Italy.
Bari, at first glance, was a boring city and had not much to do here, but she managed to look at some of the buildings. Castello Normanno-Svevo, a fortress built in the 13th century, became a prison and now is used for events and temporary exhibitions. It was cool but is just like all other places from history from that point in time and it was nothing special with it as there are a lot cooler sights in the world like this.
It wasn't long before she went away from the place and found Castello di Monteserico in the province of Treviso. A great place in the middle of nowhere, so, she had to be careful not to be spotted just popping there by people because there were a lot of people mingling around. When you got there, you could see out over a vast amount of land, and around the front door there in the frame of it she could see tiny engravings in Latin, making her incredible grateful to have studied Latin and Ancient Latin.
'Ut conscientiam custodia mandata est de ira, si tu non facis aliquid pati.'
"Be aware of the warden's wrath if you do something you aren't supposed to do," Cassiopeia whispered being careful not touching the writing because you never know what will happen, but also careful not to say it in Latin because words have power in a lot of cultures. Seeing this made her curious if there were more of these warnings around, and there was more of them, 'Discedite!' – Stay away! Were one of the most frequent writings on the outer wall, though, it was not before she explored inside of it all that she managed to find out why.
It was overwhelming to feel the oppressing force of fear crawling up her spine, something had happened here, something bad. The force of it was staggering and she thought she surprised many of the people around her by straightening up and looking around her wildly much so that she had to reassure them that she was okay.
After the first shock, things went much more smoothly, and she filled it away back in her mind to think over it later – when she had done so, she managed to explore it further.
Running her fingers along the walls and such was unerringly weird because it was like she could see back in time, like seeing it get abandoned, seeing the people mingling about. The magic around was swirling around, what she got to know of it was amazing.
After having been here a couple of hours, she cast a muggle-repelling charm around her and an invisibility charm and made her elves pop her to a place in Naples. In the end, she booked herself in a hotel for the next four days, so, that she could explore both the magical and the muggle sites.
Grand Hotel Vesuvio, was excellent and after a day like today, she needed to think over and write everything down that had happened in the small fortress on that hill. It was weird, and it dawned on her that she hadn't taken in that she could visit magical places in her travels. It wasn't that she wasn't interested, but more like she didn't have a clue where things like that were and what she should be looking out for.
