Without even thinking, Y/n opened Rai's message and typed in her response. "ofc. I'll see you tn" and closed her phone, her heart beating fast as she sat back into her seat.

She eyed Tadashi beside her. He met her glance and they shared a smile. Of course, she felt bad that she was seeing Rai right after him and he didn't know about it, but at the same time she was ecstatic that Rai had basically just confessed her feelings.

Her mind slipped to Miya. How would he feel? Oh well. He didn't seem to care about how she felt when he went ahead and picked Luna over her so many times. She willed her mind to stop thinking about Miya and back to Rai, smiling a bit to herself as she thought about seeing her friend again.

Or, maybe after today, they would be a little more than just friends.

After the movie, Y/n quickly bid Tadashi goodbye with a hug and left the theatre, knowing she still had some time before she went to see Rai. 

She used that time wisely to get ready for her, doing her hair and quickly applying makeup. She wanted to look pretty for Rai. It had been a long time since she specifically got ready for someone, wanting to impress them, and the feeling of excitement in her chest felt better than she remembered.

Finally, it was time, and Y/n was ready. Her heart pounded the whole walk to Rai's house, and when she finally mustered up the courage to knock at her door, she was almost jumping with excitement.

Rai answered, smiling widely as she saw the girl on her doorstep. She ushered Y/n in, bringing her to the living room she knew so well already. They both settled on the couch, the same place they had cuddled before. On the coffee table, there were already snacks prepared, which Y/n eyed greedily.

Rai laughed. "Feel free to eat anything. I bought them for you"

y/n's skin tingled at her words, and she carefully selected a lollipop to feast on while Rai watched her, smiling.

Finally, Rai broke the silence. "You look really pretty "

Y/n blushed, tucking a hair behind her ear. "Thank you"

the silence returned.

"I'm really nervous" Rai said after a moment.

"So am I" 

They laughed a little. 

"Y/n." Rai leaned closer. "i already told you, but it was easier over text. I like you a lot, and it's okay if you don't feel the same. But i just wanted you to know."

Y/n took a deep breath as she touched her hand to Rai's. "I think I like you too. ever since that day you smiled at me in math class, i kind of just knew"

Rai's large eyes glanced up at Y/n again. "You remember that?"

"Of course I do"

"I think I really started liking you once you stood up to miya. seeing you being so confident after all he had done to you- i just remember thinking: 'wow. she's so amazing'"

Y/n's laughter bubbled out. She scooted closer to Rai. "I still think of him sometimes" She confessed. "but i'm ready to block him out, and focus on the more important people in my life. Someone who could replace Miya, i guess"

And as Y/n cuddled more into Rai, she was sure her friend understood that y/n wanted the person to be her. 

Rai's hands found Y/n's face, tilting it up as she softly, a bit hesitantly, pressed a kiss onto her lips. 

Y/n sighed in happiness at the difference she felt between Rai and Miya. Rai was gentle, more loving, just what Y/n needed as she wrapped her arms around Rai's neck and kissed her again.

They parted, rai's cheeks flushed as she faced y/n. They shared yet another smile, the silence comfortable as they both processed their feelings for each other quietly.

Feeling completely at peace for once, Y/n closed her eyes as she fell back into rai's arms with a quiet huff. Rai chuckled lightly and wrapped her arms around the girl, taking a blanket and draping on the two of them.

She pressed a kiss to the top of Y/n's head, stroking the strands of her hair as she watched the girl rest comfortably against her.

rai smiled. and as if y/n could feel it, she slightly smiled as well.
