Y/n stared down at her phone. Miya's message stood out against the others, his icon still a picture of them two, of y/n blushing as miya pressed a kiss against her cheek.
She missed him, she missed what he was like before luna. she missed how close they were. she missed it so much that she decided she was willing to hear him out if it meant they might be normal again.
hands trembling just a bit, Y/n typed a reply.
Y/n
Meet me at the park in 30 minutes.
The movie with tadashi would be over in 20 more minutes, which meant she would have enough time to get to the park by then. She knew he knew what she meant as well. The park, next to S, where they had had their first kiss months ago. Within seconds, he responded a simple "okay."
Stealing a glance towards Takashi again, she buried her phone into her purse and tried to enjoy the movie without thinking too much of what was to come.
When it ended, she gave Tadashi a quick hug, told him to text her and was out the door with her skateboard before he could reply.
She skated down the familiar road to the park, checking the time on her phone to make sure she wasn't late. She got there 3 minutes early, and she decided to wait for Miya ontop of the slide of the play structure. She knew he would find her.
She found herself more nervous than she should be, though she knew that she was doing Miya a favor by even accepting his apology.
She opened her phone again - but this time, she pressed into her camera roll and scrolled all the way up, to the days where her and miya were inseparable, so obsessed with each other that she had hundreds of photos of just them two.
Y/n began scrolling. She whisked through photos of him skating, of her doing makeup on him, of both of them together under the starry night.
She paused on that photo, remembering the memories connected to it. She knew it wasn't healthy to cling onto the past, but she just couldn't help it.
"I remember that day"
Y/n jumped. She turned in surprise only to see Miya, who had somehow soundlessly ended up next to her on the play structure. He half smiled at her, then looked back to the picture.
"It was a good day, wasn't it?" She murmured. He nodded. "so. what did you want to talk to me about?" She questioned him as she closed her phone.
He fiddled with his sleeves, a habit she had grown to know well. What he did when he was nervous.
"I just wanted to explain myself. To talk to you, truthfully, about everything and hope that you can forgive me. "
"Alright. Go ahead, then"
He took a deep breath. "Luna. I'm being completely honest when I tell you that I don't have any feelings for her. She's just my friend, my old best friend, and when I saw her again I was overwhelmed. When we were young, there were many problems in our friendship that no one knew about. She would constantly taunt me about my life, about who I was friends with or what I did. It got tiring, always needing to be on my best so that she wouldn't say something rude." Miya leaned against the metal walls of the structure.
Y/n gestured for him to continue.
"So, when she left to go abroad, I was relieved, but upset as well to have lost someone who I had spent so much time with before" He explained. "And when she came back, my first reaction was that I was scared. I didn't want her to find out about my life now, I was scared that she would continue to comment on my choices and always judge me"
"So you think she would taunt you about me?" Y/n cut in.
Miya met her gaze. "Yes. She's like that, she loves putting others down for her benefit. I think she knew what we were. But she's a snake - she probably pretended she didn't to have higher ground against us. If she ever made you feel bad, I'm so sorry. I don't know what came over me when i took her side on so many things. its just that I thought if I played along with her games, maybe she would stop saying all those things to me. I was holding on to the hope that she had changed. And she did, but just towards me. She coddled me but was completely horrible to others, like you. " He sighed, as if he had been trying to tell someone about this for ages, and had finally done it. A weight had been lifted from his shoulders. "And I'm sorry" He said again.
Y/n reached for his hand, giving it a squeeze. "Don't apologize - it's her fault, not yours"
"But I'm sorry, too. For how I acted. I was being just like her, I know. but it was just hard to see her again , knowing our history before she left"
"Miya. i understand now. it's okay, but what do you plan on doing now?"
"i'm going to confront her. It doesn't matter to me anymore, if you're by my side when i do it. i'm sick of being around her. only if you're okay with it"
y/n smiled. "of course. I'm going to enjoy watching her reaction when you finally put her in her place"
They dropped into silence for a second, their smiles enough to represent their words. Finally, Y/n reached out to hug Miya. She held him tight, missing the feeling of him so much she didn't want to let go.
He pulled away and kissed her forehead before backing away. "thank you. for understanding, and for the fact that you forgave me. i missed you so much"
"i missed you too" she beamed at him again, then eyed the time on her phone. "It's almost time for S to start. Feel like going today? I'm sure people have missed our presence there"
He grinned at her and took her hand again. "Of course."
