"Liam! We weren't expecting you!" a woman says as she chops carrots. Liam smiles and rubs my back gently. "Hello Mayli. Can we have some snacks" Mayli nods smiling and starts preparing a marmalade sandwich. "So how long have you been here, Tee?" I ask genuinely interested. "Most of my life. It's ok though cause Mike is like a dad to me" "Aww. Thanks Tee, I didn't know that that's how you felt about me" All three of us turn and shout his name angrily making him laugh. "How are you settling in Lottie?" "Fine. Tee has been very welcoming" Tee beams and pats my back. I smile and Mayli hands me my sandwich. "I'm going to speak to Mike about something but I'll be back soon, ok?" Liam whispers in my ear putting me down in a kitchen chair. I nod. "Mike, can I have a word?" Mike nods and my brother and him head off.
When they return, Liam looks awfully happy about something. "What's got you so happy?" Liam laughs and throws me into the air before expertly catching me. "Well, if Jack agrees to it your social worker has said that you're allowed to live with us. At least until we find your adoptive mum. I mean, if we find her" I laugh and throw my arms around his neck. "Jack'll be here in half an hour, so I suppose the real question is, do you want to watch telly with me in the living room?" I shake my head even though I know he wants me to agree. But, I've got a better idea. "No, I want to do your make-up" He chuckles nervously and takes a step back. Tee smirks and stands up. "That would be a great idea. Come on Liam, what could possibly go wrong?" e sighs and nods allowing me to drag him to a bathroom.
"Hmm. More eyeshadow, I think" I say choosing the blue. Carmen, another girl whom we've got in on this, smiles and hands me the eyeshadow. "Perfect!" I laugh jumping up and down on the balls of my feet. "Can we take a picture to show Jack when he arrives? Liam, give me your phone" He sighs but hands it over, knowing that there's no way around it. I grin mischeviously as I take the picture and he rolls his eyes. "And now you know why I hate girls" I smile and peck him on the cheek. "We better wash this off. Jack'll be here anytime soon" I sigh, sad that our moment of fun is over.
The doorbell rings and I hear a man's voice..........
