It wasn't until a few moments later when Beth and Dawn left the room with Carol in it, Beth ushering me to my feet.
"You have to get dressed." She mumbled to me as we walked along to hall ways down towards our rooms.
"Why?" I questioned, looking at Dawn who looked incredibly pissed.
"Rick's here, he's come to get us out." She had a small smile on her face which mimicked mine.
If Rick was here, that meant that Daryl would be too. He was his right hand man, there was no way that he would go anywhere without him, especially when it involved this kind of a rescue mission.
My heart did a flip at the thought of seeing him again. It felt like it had been forever since I'd last seen him. I'd forgotten how much happiness one little smile from him could bring me, how much I would smile when I would put on one of his shirts and it would smell like cigarettes and I would know that he was close to me, even if he was out on a run. I needed him back and I was finally getting my wish.
"I'll meet you outside of your rooms." Dawn interrupted my thoughts, stopping as we came to two rooms, one mine and one Beths.
I threw the door open quickly and rummaged around in my bag that was lying on the floor, being incredibly careful of my shoulder.
I threw on the same clothes I was wearing when Beth and I were taken, shimmying into my jeans before throwing my bag on my back. I knew it still had the medicine in it, it was the same stuff they had me on when they were using the IV drip.
I was the first one out of my room, Dawn waiting patiently outside of it whilst we waited for Beth; no word spoken between us two.
I would have liked to say that it was a comfortable silence but it definitely wasn't.
Dawn left quickly as she got a radio through telling her that they were here, my heart fluttered and I had to stop myself from smiling.
Dawn called down the hallway to a doctor that was escorting Carol in a wheelchair down the hall, Beth finally emerging from her room.
"Let me take her." She softly smiled at the doctor before taking Carol, all four of us making our way down the now empty hallway with Carol out in front, me walking the opposite side to Beth than the doctor.
She seemed to trust him, she'd clearly had more encounters with him than I had had, but I was finding it very hard now days to actually trust anyone else; not after everything that had happened.
As we rounded the corner, there was a line up of cops waiting; the rest of us waiting at the back. There still wasn't a view of the others but I could hear footsteps coming from the hallway just up ahead.
My heart beat was beginning to pick up, a small pain branching from the area but I tried my hardest to suppress it. The last thing I needed was to finally be back with Daryl only to collapse from the pain. I needed to breathe and push through it.
I could see Rick poking his head into the glass window of the door at the end of the hallway, Carol reaching out and gripping Beth's hand as she too noticed.
"Holster your weapons." Dawn spoke through her walkie, all of the officers around us doing as she said.
The doors opened and I couldn't help the smile that made its' way onto my face. Neither Beth nor Carol was smiling but I couldn't help it. I caught sight of Daryl and a feeling of relief flooded over me. He was here, he'd finally come to find us.
Rick and the others walked forwards, stopping towards the end of the hallway, three officers handcuffed in front of them; their leverage.
Dawn nodded at the three of us to walk forwards, into the line of sight so they could see that we were okay, at least for the most part.
