Kai let me shower while he met with his Mom.

She was visiting from Italy, apparently she left after the funeral but came back to see Kai and Joseph. Makes sense, she is their mother.

I had a towel wrapped around my body when I received a text.

You like being on top huh?

A smirk rose to my lips, unsure of what to say.

Instead, I just snapped a picture of my boobs and sent that to him, placing my phone face down.

I was snooping through his bathroom cupboards when the door crashed open, a very sweaty and stressed looking Kai staring at me.

"Are you crazy woman?" He spoke. "What?" I played innocent, "Sending me things like that whilst I'm having tea with my mother?"

I laughed, on the verge of tears when he came over to me.

He looked down my cleavage, acting like a kid on Christmas when I showed them to him. He squeezed one and smiled, looking at my naked body.

"Now get out, I have to get changed."

He shook his head, "No, I want to spend as much time with you as I can before I have to leave." He smirked. I frowned, "Wait, you're leaving?" I asked.

"Shit. Yeah I uh- I have to go back to Italy for a bit. My Mom needs me there."

I nodded, grabbing the towel and re-wrapping myself with it.

I bit my lip, looking down.

"Hey, don't do that." He tried to grab me but I moved away, "How long will you be gone?" I asked. Kai shrugged, "A few weeks. Maybe a month."

A month.

I smiled, but on the inside I was dying. How the hell can I go a month without seeing Kai.

"Cool." My voice was shaky but I didn't let him know that.

The silence was deafening. "I should go. But um, come see me before you leave."

I nodded, waiting for the door to close before I let out a breath.

I began to cry again. I hadn't cried yet today and I was proud of myself. But now Kai's leaving and my one source of happiness is going to be halfway across the world.

I really need friends.

I left without saying goodbye.

I didn't know when he was leaving but if it was now I wouldn't be able to say goodbye.

When I arrived home, a bad feeling settled in my stomach. I reached for the door, only to find it was already open.

I stopped, pushing the door open with my foot.

I had my gun in my hand, ready to shoot just in case. I was quiet with my footsteps. Only using my tip-toes to walk.

Once I was sure the place was secure, I put the gun down and inspected anything.

I was about to relax when I noticed a box that was usually tucked away in my closet, sitting on my bed.

The lid was off and the files were rifled through.

This box contains every piece of evidence against my father, as well as incriminating evidence against me and my whole family.

My heart started to hammer against my chest, beating rapidly.

I reached for my phone, calling Kai.

"How fast can you get here?"

And now he was standing on my doorstep, "What's going on?" Kai asked me, coming inside. Joseph was with him too and I was grateful we weren't alone together.

"My apartment door was unlocked when I got home." I said, watching their faces drop, "I thought everything was fine until... this."

I led them into my room, showing them the papers.

"Holy shit is this-"

"Yep." I cut Joseph off. They were reading the files, all the bad things my father has done within the last twenty years. Piles upon piles upon piles of white paper, stacked from in order from month, to date.

Each person he's killed and why. Each person he's tortured and why.

"Who would want this?"

I shook my head, "I have no idea. My father left from Spain almost a week ago, and I know it's none of his men because they're all loyal to him, they wouldn't want any evidence that could prove him guilty."

Kai pulled out his phone, tapping a few things on the screen.

"What're you doing?" I asked, looking over his shoulder. "I installed a security camera above your apartment after your first attack so I could make sure you're okay."

He said it so calmly, like he didn't just admit to stalking and an invasion of privacy.

However, I didn't mind it, actually.

I liked that he was watching over me. In fact, it gave me a brilliant idea for when he was in Italy.

"Does this guy look familiar?" Kai said, showing me the screen. There was a blonde guy, probably mid-thirties, unlocking my apartment with a key and going inside.

There's nothing before or after that so it must've been him.

I shake my head, "No. But the doorman wouldn't have let him up unless he knew him. I wonder if he snuck in." I scratched my head, confused.

"I'll talk to him, in the meantime, don't go anywhere until we figure it out. You can come back to mine if you want-"

"No it's okay. I have things to do here anyway." I quickly declined his offer and we were back to the awkwardness.

"I'm gonna- wait outside." Joseph said.

I forgot he was here.

"I leave tomorrow." Kai said.

My heart sank.

"I'll be back on the twenty-fifth."

It was the sixteenth of July. That's ages away.

I smiled up at him, unable to control the tear that escapes my face, "Fly safe. Make sure you bring me back some Italian chocolate, or something." I started putting dishes away to distract myself.

Keeping busy, that's what I need to do.

"Scar." Kai says. But I ignore him, "Scarlett." He says more firmly, "I need you to go to my house every three days or so and make sure everything's okay. The housekeepers will be there but I don't trust them like I trust you."

Aw, that was cute.

I nodded, "I promise."

We were staring at each other from across the room. I leaned on the island, rocking on my heels when he came over to me. I expected him to hug me but instead he kissed me.

Right on the lips.

It was a soft kiss too.

"I'm gonna miss that." He said. Then his fingers found my sweet spot, and he stroked it, "I'm sure as hell gonna miss this, too." He groaned, kissing me one more time before he left.

And here I was again, alone.
