Chapter 7

I ran as fast as I could as they chased me down the alley. There were three from what I could tell. One of them managed to get hold of me I struggled as hard as I could in hopes of getting out. The more I tried to break out, he tightened his grip around my waist. I kicked my ankle up as hard as I could, kicking him on the groin which made him release me as he fell to the ground groaning in pain. I ran with the short second I had, but I wasn't fast enough until the other two and the one I kicked came back, getting hold of me. One of them grabbed my waist, the other lifting my legs up as I struggled to run again. The other one hit me down to the cold floor and kneeled down beside me, unsheathing a knife and holding it to my throat. I felt a sharp pain in my gut as a leg continuously hit me. I screamed as loud as I could, hoping someone could hear me, or else I'd be taken back to James.

One of the men put a cloth to my mouth, to muffle my scream most likely, but it wasn't just a cloth. The strong smell wafted in my nostrils and the edges of my eyes grew blurrier and blurrier. The last thing I heard was a gunshot and everything went pitch black.

I felt a pair of hands wrapped around mine, they were familiar. I wasn't lying on the cold ground at the alley, it was soft silk sheets instead. I felt moisture press onto my hand as he kissed my hand. I knew who it was by touch; I was safe. I peeled my eyes open to see I was in Vaughn's room. His face that was sunken and drained was now filled with relief.

"Brooke, I'm sorry I shouldn't have left you" He said immediately as if he's a criminal confessing to their sins

I smiled softly which warmed his eyes a bit more.

"It wasn't your fault, I shouldn't have gone out late alone, knowing James' guards are patrolling" I said reassuringly

"Are you alright? Are you hurt? Do you want anything" He questioned, worried

"Gosh you're worse than Bella and Audrey combined, I'm fine love" I said placing a hand on his cheek, I was lying, I tried not to wince at the pain on my stomach, I don't want him to worry even more than he is.

"Stop lying, I'll get an ice pack" He said, seeing though my façade and getting up and leaving

It didn't take him a minute to spawn back to the seat by the bed with an ice pack in his hands

"Can you not sit there, I feel like a patient in a hospital" I said trying to soften the mood

"Have it your way" He said getting up and sitting beside me on the bed

"Where does it hurt?" He asked

"Right here" I said making a fake sad face and pointing to my lip

That seemed to calm him as he chuckled and gave me a soft peck

"Now be serious, where does it hurt"

"Right here" I said lifting up the side on his black t-shirt that he changed me into. It smelled just like him to my advantage.

"I'm going to kill him" He growled as he saw the bruised skin

"Hey, I'm telling you its fine, I'm used to it" I said putting a hand on his arm

"He does this to you all the time" He asked, even more mad

"Vaughn, can we not please"

"Sorry love" He said putting the cold ice to the purple skin

It was soothing against my beaten skin as he laid down beside me with an arm around my shoulders as I nestled to his bare chest.

It didn't take long for sleep to come over as he played with my hair.

The next morning I woke up to the sound of bustling around the room. It must be Vaughn, he usually is the one to wake up early.

"I'm sorry darling, I didn't mean to wake you" He said coming up to me to plant a kiss on my lips

"It's fine" I said smiling

As I sat up on the bed, the pain not as strong as yesterday. A suitcase covered the floor that was filled with his clothes.

"Are you going somewhere?" I asked

"We are, unless you aren't up for travelling" He said remembering that I got attacked "I thought you might want to escape for a bit, it's fine if you can't" He said nervously running a hand up his hair

"That's so sweet Vaughn, but it's fine and it would be nice to go somewhere" I said, smitten by his gesture

"Alright, I already some things for you, is this fine?" He asked bringing a white suitcase to the bed

It was filled with bikinis and dresses with a pair of slippers

"You didn't have to buy all this" I said blushing

"You deserve it love, and Audrey and Bella helped picking them out" He said planting a kiss on my cheek

"Thanks but there's a few more things I'd need from my apartment"

"You can go and get them then, I'll come by in a half an hour" He said "I'll put the bags in the car"

Vaughn was waiting by my door when I came out, ready with all my things.

"Do you need that much love" He asked

"It's only 2 more bags" I said as he crammed the bags into the backseat since the trunk was full

We drove to a small clearing with a huge grass ground with wire fence separating the gravel and grass. In the middle of the large area of gravel was a huge jet with the name MEDINA on the side. My jaw fell open as I saw it.

"Come on" He said after giving the bags to a person to load them in.
