"Brooklyn get down here" I heard the familiar voice call me
"Yes" I replied in a bored monotone, wondering what he wanted from me now
I ran down the stair case, a blank expression on my face until I reached the living room where he stood. With his brown hair neatly slicked back and the blue eyes I was intensely staring at, I hated having his eyes. His tall, lean figure straight
"There you are" He said coldly
"What do you want?" I asked scratching to get away from his presence
"I have a proposal" He said sitting down on his chair putting his fingers together
"You must marry Smith's son when you turn 25"
I gasped at his offer, how could he trade my life. Zachorias Smith, a man I despised almost as much as my father. They were business partners since young. His son, a man I hated equally. Ryan Smith. I was disgusted at the thought.
"No" I said defiantly
"That's not your choice, Smith has been my partner for over two decades, with him backing me up, I'll win the election"
"Is that all I am, a wretched pawn in your corrupt business, you can't sell off my life without my concern!" I roared suddenly finding courage, an angry tear falling off my face
"You think I care, this is why you're born, to serve our family name"
"Is that why, you're too lazy to do work so you raised me to do your bidding, I'm not your dog!" I yelled "And if I don't want to, I know just what you would do, the same thing your father did to aunt Jolene! Sure go ahead and kill me, you don't
Care as long as you get what you want. YOU'RE ALL THE SAME, all looking for power and money-"
He interrupted, drawing his gun from his pocket, that's always how he gets me to do his bidding. He pressed it to my throat, resisting to pull the trigger. He put it down.
His hand met my cheek, the sound echoing down the hall and his fist to my gut, knocking me to the ground. One more kick and he left, scowling at me.
Christian came rushing down, hearing the commotion. He rushed to my side, helping me up with distress painted on his face.
"You can't let him keep doing this" He said as he helped me to the couch
"It's no big deal Chris"
"Are you really going to do it?"
"Do you think I would be his pet?"
"You should expose him to the press"
"I don't want to ruin his life"
"Why? He's been nothing but horrible"
"He's my father, I can't" I sighed
"You're too good for this world Brook"
I nodded, giving him a warm smile and ran back upstairs to my room. As I shut the door, the words sunk in. My life was done for, once the ring goes around my finger I will be stuck with Ryan. 6 Months. That's it.
Tears brimmed in my eyes as I sunk down. I just wanted to be free, yet I'm trapped in a cage with the key thrown away.
As the next 2 days passed, all spent soaking in the despair of my future. Lucky for me, Christian was the only person who kept me sane. He was my peace since he was born, I loved him more than anything. I made it my worth to defend him and to leave him from the hell I face daily. Mum was never around, usually on holiday in different places and would come home once a month only to pack up and leave after a few days to another trip with her friends. Its better that way anyway, when she's home she never spends time with us. The only time I've had a conversation with her is when she was pregnant with Christian.
