Even when he was in a really young age, something was different with Wei Ying, but no one really noticed it. Cheng and Yanli were too young to understand, his uncle Jiang was not around that often because of his job, he would travel often and Madame Yu... Madame Yu would never pay attention to him. For some reason, she always hated Wei Ying.
Wei Ying wouldn't understand why. He had never done something which could embarrass them. Even the teachers had to admit that he had an incredible mind. His grades were perfect. He was better than Cheng, but that was really making Madame Yu angry. She would always scold her son for not being better than him. Someday she told something which made Wei Ying totally confused and speechless. "Well yeah, your mother is not a match to his mother after all."
Even though he was an ideal child in everyone's eyes, Wei Ying had some weird behaviors. For example he could stare at the wall without moving for hours. No one really knew what he was thinking about. Madame Yu thought it was weird from the start, but Jiang Fengmian didn't think so. He thought Wei Ying's weird behaviors were the cause of his incredible mind.
That was not all. Sometimes they would find Wei Ying sleeping in the garden or in the backyard. Whenever they asked him how he went there, Wei Ying would always tell them that he didn't remember anything. They just thought he was sleep walking, so they began locking the doors and windows at nights. However, it didn't change anything. They would find Wei Ying sleeping outside and they would find the doors or windows unlocked.
The weirdest thing about him was his fondness to the blood. In horror movies he could watch the gore scenes without showing any sign of horror or disgust. He wouldn't even flinch when the character began screaming. He was harming to himself too without any specific reason. He was simply doing this because he enjoyed the pain and feeling the warmth and wetness of the blood at it was trickling down from his arm.
You know how people are when they are in the secondary school: They bully to those who are different from them instead of embracing the differences. Especially if they are popular. Wei Ying was not an exception. He had a good looking that was undeniable, but his fondness of blood and gore would scare the girls and cause the other boys to mock him.
Wei Ying didn't care about them though. Whenever someone tried to tease him, he would act like he didn't hear them and he wouldn't say anything back to them.
Sometimes he would hear other people whisper about him. "I bet his parents are glad that they are not alive anymore. If they were alive, they wouldn't want him either."
Wei Ying couldn't forget what they said. He couldn't forgive them either. It was the first time he had felt so hurt before and he was going to make them pay no matter what.
The last straw for him was he was physically abused by a group of bullies.
"That's enough guys. I think he learned his lesson." The bully chuckled and looked at Wei Ying's bloody figure in disgust and walked away with his crew. They had kicked him until his mouth and nose began bleeding. He could swear one of his ribs was broken or one of his lungs was punctured.
Wei Ying stayed there coughing and vomiting blood. His whole body was aching. He could barely stand up and began walking back to home with his aching body.
That day something was broken in Wei Ying's mind.
It was not his fault, it was the bullies' fault.
