Robin and Nancy both dropped Jackie off at the road by Reefer Rick's house. They immediately drove off, not wanting to gain attention from the people that lived there or anyone who might drive by. Jackie walked through the woods along the path, moving past the dispersed trees until the house and the shed got closer.
She pushed the metal door to the shack open as she shifted the grocery bags up her arm. The door opened to reveal the inside and Eddie in the corner, jumping at the sudden intrusion.
"Fuck!" He cursed, holding his head in one of his hands and closing his eyes when he realized it was just her.
"Sorry," Jackie winced, moving inside the shack. "I didn't mean to scare you or anything."
Eddie shook his head, moving away from the corner as he regained his breath. "Nah- you're good."
"Okay," She smiled, standing beside the rowboat in the center of the room. She emptied the contents of the grocery bags into the boat. "We got you some more mac and cheese, milk, bread, peanut butter, and jelly-"
"If you say spaghetti-O's," He held up his hand to stop her as he stepped inside the boat, sitting down on one of the cold, wooden benches. "I might throw the can at your head."
Jackie reached back into the bag and held up the tin can with the plastic logo around it. "Guess I'm keeping this then," She joked, placing it on the ground before reaching back into the bags again and pulling out a tin foil-wrapped sandwich. "But we did swing by some coffee shop on the way back to grab lunch," She threw the sandwich at him. "You're welcome."
Eddie's eyes widened as he scrambled to catch it and immediately unwrapped it, tossing the tin foil to the side.
"I know it's not a buffet or anything," She shrugged, sitting down in the boat on the bench in front of him. "But it's food that's not from a box or a can."
"I think I forgot what real food tastes like," He gaped at the sandwich, eyes wide.
Jackie laughed, reaching into the bag to grab her own. "You're so dramatic. It's been, what, four days?"
He started to eat. "Five days of nothing but non-perishable goods."
"Why do I get the feeling that even if you weren't in this situation, you'd probably still be eating KFC or something."
Eddie shrugged. "It's finger-lickin' good. Why wouldn't it be real?"
Her eyes widened as she laughed again, starting to unwrap her sandwich. "You know they don't make it, right? It's fast food."
"It's called the power of imagination," He tapped the side of his head. "Mine just so happens to be super strong. Yours? Not so much."
Jackie shook her head, rolling her eyes. "Yeah, yeah."
Eddie nodded in the direction of the large bag that Jackie carried with her that now sat on the floor. It was seemingly full, its canvas material flipping over and molding to the shapes of the contents at the bottom. "What else you got in there?" He asked, a smile pulling at his lips when he realized the bottom of the bag was slightly wet.
She sighed. "Eddie! Those were supposed to be a surprise."
"I don't even know what it is!" He raised his hands in defense.
Jackie huffed again, but have a tiny smile before reaching into the bag. "I heard you trying to reach Dustin on the walkie-talkie before I left," She placed the six-pack of beers on the bench, watching his eyes widen. "Merry Christmas."
Eddie excitedly clapped his hands together, practically lunging towards the six-pack of beers. The condensation dripped off the sides of the cans, which were still relatively cold, and onto the bench inside the boat. The water ran along his hands, causing him to wipe them off along his black ripped jeans. "Jackie, I'm not kidding when I say I could actually kiss you right now."
