Satoru

"Mom, I promise I'll come by next weekend for dinner," I say as I stroll down another aisle with Geto.

We were shopping for snacks at a small grocery store near campus. I wanted him to show me another Western movie; he always enjoys those, and we've barely made a dent in the stack he has.

"Thank you, Satoru. It's been too long," My mother says happily into my ear.

She called me a few minutes ago, insisting I stop by soon. Which ended up turning into a full blown dinner invitation.

Before I can say goodbye, she adds quickly,

"And bring that roommate of yours, Geto. I liked him!"

"Fine," I look at Geto who glances up from the bag of strawberry candies he was looking at,

"My mother would like to extend the dinner invitation to you as well."

His eyes widen a bit and he opens his mouth, and I see a polite decline about to leave his lips so I cut him off.

"Geto said he would love to come as well," I usher quickly into the phone whilst maneuvering away from the slap Suguru attempted to land on my arm,

"I love you, mom. Bye!"

"Bye, Satoru! All my love."

The line goes dead and I shove my phone in my pocket and smile at Suguru who tossed the bag of candy into the basket.

"Oh wipe that smug look off your face," He grumbles with an eye roll, and after I give him my famous puppy dog eyes he groans,

"FINE. I'll go to dinner with you at your parent's again. At least I have a say this time."

"Thank you," My lips tug back up into a smile,

"You're the best."

"Yeah, yeah."

I watch as he turns back to the shelves along the aisle. I don't pay attention to the other few bags of candies he throws into the basket as well.

My eyes were studying his face. How sharp his jawline line was and how his lips parted as he spoke,

"I really want some unagi, I'm gonna go see if they have any."

Suguru doesn't wait for me to respond, he just hands me the basket and heads up the aisle. His hair was pulled back into a messy half bun today, and he has on sweatpants and his black hoodie. He always looks so beautiful without even trying.

I don't know if I'll ever find the perfect words to describe Suguru. He was everything I could've asked for in a person.

Part of me finds it hard to believe that I'm even kind of with him. We haven't talked about labels, and that's okay. He wanted to take it slow and I'm all for that. But I know that I don't want to bother dating anyone else.

I have no interest in anyone but Suguru.

"Hey, sorry- But you're blocking the chips," A voice says from behind me.

I jump in surprise as I spin around before moving out of the way and waving apologetically,

"I'm so sorry! My apologies."

Looking only slightly down, I see it's a boy probably still in high school. His hair was black and shaved into a buzz cut, his eyes were a dark brown.

Something about his face felt familiar, but I couldn't put my finger on it.

"No problem, you seemed to be zoning out so I figured I'd just say something," He shrugs and grabs a bag of regular chips and then moves to pass by me.

"So they don't have any unagi, total bummer-" Suguru's voice stops dead as he comes to stand beside me, his hand gracing my shoulder.

I snap my head to look at his face and figure out what's wrong. I see his eyes are wide as he looks at the younger teenager in front of us.
