Asajj groaned. How could she even trust this new Sith. Liars,. Deceivers and manipulative bastards, the lot of them. And the Jedi are no better. So high and mighty, thinking themselves to better than the rest of the galaxy. In truth, their just as bad as the Sith. Nothing but mercenaries paid by the Galactic Republic to fight their war, while still deceiving themselves into thinking it's all in the name of peace.

Suddenly, the steel doors opened and the ancient Sith was thrown into an adjacent cell. After rubbing his wrists, he looked at her. 'So, tell me, Asajj Ventress. Have you given my proposal much thought?'

She nodded.

'And?'

'How do I know you're better than the Count or the rest of the Sith? What's to stop you from throwing me aside once you find no more use in me?'

The Sith Lords eyes filled with pity. 'You poor, poor child. Such pain. All the suffering you must have endured. Simply put, your Count won't come for you because he can't. The powerless can do nothing, so they compromise. One thing, in exchange of another. In this case, your master's survival in exchange for yours. What I offer in exchange for your service is protection. Under me, no one will ever be able to make you suffer again. Never again will you know defeat. Never again will you be cast out'.

Asajj laughed at the thought of that. 'Big words coming from a man trapped in a cell'.

'But am I?' Without so much as lifting a finger, a dark aura engulfed the Sith Lord. The cells shook and the lights flickered all around them. Outside, she could hear the bodyguards trying to open the steel doors.

The Sith Lord broke the force field that stood between him and his freedom. He stepped out of his cell and slowly entered the apprentice's. Asajj wanted to flee but her whole body stood frozen, her face frozen in dreary awe. The Sith Lord rested his hands at the back of her neck, making her shudder. 'Tell me, little Sith, do I look trapped to you'.

She could do nothing but whimper. She shook her head hoping it was enough to satisfy him. Then, the monster in front of him smiled.

When the steel doors opened, the guards immediately rushed inside, weapons drawn and ready only to see the prisoners locked up in their cells. 'What happened here?'

The Sith Lord laughed. 'I think there's something wrong with the circuitry. I'd suggest getting that thing fixed as soon as possible. Don't want any escapees on your hands, now, do you?'

The guards snarled at him before eventually leaving the two Sith alone. For a moment, Asajj wanted them to stay. But a quick glance at the Sith Lord was enough to keep her quiet.

'Take your time to reconsider, little Sith. I'll be right here'.

As Asajj closes her eyes, she could feel the monster's hand on her neck again. She looked at its eyes and saw only the purple void behind them. And then, for the first time in her life, she was finally certain in something.
