Chapter 5: Jake.
Something strange is going on at Orora West. The first thing I noticed was three new students who all arrived on the same day. They also seemed to take a particular interest in Luna. I avoided Luna myself because she sort of... smelled like me? It's not something I can explain. The next thing I noticed about these strange newcomers is that like Luna, the new students had that familiar scent. They smelt sort of like me, but different. I decided to avoid them like the plague. It was probably the best decision I could have made because by the third day of school Luna had disappeared and so had the others.
I think I might skip school myself today, I'm just feeling way too stressed out. I lose control when I get stressed. My eyes start to glow, and my teeth grow into fangs. It's the beginning of the change. A warning before I turn into a wolf. The first time it was an accident, and I would turn into a wolf at random times, now I can control it... mostly. As long as I don't bottle up my emotions I can control my changes.
So I give in to my stress and I let myself feel it. I open the back door and leave it open. I go into the bathroom and strip down. My green eyes glow vibrantly back at me. I take a deep breath and let the change happen, then I simply plod out the back door. I start racing through the forest, jumping over logs and ducking under branches. I feel so relaxed and calm out here. It feels like I belong in the forest.
The quiet is soon interrupted by the sound of a familiar voice – its Luna. hope she's alright. Unable to live with the thought of leaving someone in danger, I slowly creep towards the sound of her voice, careful to remain quiet as I do so. I wasn't surprised to see her with one of the new guys. I am surprised however when Luna transforms into a white wolf before my very eyes. The guy who is with her stares at her with wide eyes and a slack jaw.
"Luna, you're white. Snow-white," he says to her.
Luna looks down at her paws and legs, before looking back up to make eye contact with the new guy. He's the tallest of the bunch. I overheard the girls at school talking about him, his name is Kai... the girls at school think he is cool.
"I can't believe that you're white," he says quietly.
She looks at him curiously and he starts laughing.
"You really are a Princess," he says, running a hand through his hair as he chuckles.
She growls at him.
"No offence Luna," he says with a smile, "you just look like the Princess of Wolves from the stories, she was white too."
"Hey, Kai- oh my god," a boy with brown hair and chocolate brown eyes exclaims, "Luna looks like Luna!"
...
Who else is she supposed to look like?
Kai laughs again. Hearing the commotion, a third boy steps out of the house. It's the last new guy... do they all live here... in the woods... together?
"Holy sh-" he begins.
"Language," Kai says, cutting him off.
"Luna.." the third guy says.
"I know," Kai says with a goofy grin on his face.
He looks like a child who has just discovered chocolate for the first time.
"Why does Luna from school look like Luna from the stories?" the third guy asks, flabbergasted.
"Coincidence?" Kai says with a shrug.
The second boy continues to stare at her silently with wide eyes. Suddenly, he starts sniffing the air.
"You!" he shouts as he changes into a wolf mid-step.
