The Skeleton teleported you to that hospital and disappeared quickly into one of the rooms. You followed after him quickly, freezing at the sight of a strapped down and thrashing Dog monster. The Skeleton went to a bucket in the corner of the room, pulling out a squirming fish as he returned to the dogs side. "this is dogaressa, she's my main test subject at the moment, though i'm in search of her mate, dogamy." The Skeleton explained as he undid her muzzle and let her tear into the fish with fevor. "ordinarily, monsters wouldn't be able to digest things like this, but whatever this sickness is, is altering the naturally occurring venom that we produce to make it so that they can eat what they eat." He then pulled out a needle and stuck it in her arm, injecting its contents into her. You realized quickly that it had to be a sedative seeing as she was calming down at a rapid rate. It wasn't long before the muzzle was being fit on her again. He looked to you. "Dogamy isn't feral, he works the security unit in the Underground." You responded. The Skeleton blinked and nodded. "that's good." He replied as he led you out of the room and to another.

🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️

"so i should probably introduce myself. the names sans, sans the skeleton." You froze as you recounted when Papyrus had first got to the Underground. The name he was calling. "You're... Papyrus brother..?" Honestly, you kinda suspected it, as far as you've seen, there were no other Skeletons but these two. Having him confirm though was kinda sad. As far as Papyrus was concerned Sans was either dead or a mindless beast feeding off of- Sans grabbed your hand. "hey, hey. don't think about it, you're ok.." He guided you slowly to a chair and sat you down. "need anything to eat or drink? maybe a distraction?" Sans offered as his eyelights flickered around. "... he misses you.." Sans paused, gaze traveling back to you. "General Papyrus.. he misses you so much.." Sans sockets widened a moment. General Papyrus was certainly new, then again it's been years.. "i... miss him too. i do. but i can't go back." You looked at him. "Because you're feral." He nodded. "and i'm putting less people in danger going solo on the cure." You were filled with determination. "Not anymore you aren't."

🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️

After Sans was sure you'd calmed from your little attack, he showed you around, showed you what you would be doing. It certainly wasn't handling the feral, no. For that you were kinda relieved. No, what you were doing was testing the samples, comparing them to Sans own magic samples and telling him if they look somewhat similar or not. You were no scientist, but if it made you useful you were ready to learn! "So if you were born with a magic imbalance, does that mean Papyrus could have it too? Or was it just a fluke?" You asked as you studied Sans magic samples carefully. "... it was a fluke. papyrus can't, uh, he actually doesn't have the venom. we were born opposites. he can't even go feral if he was bit, i don't know what it would do to him if he was..." Sans shook his head. "i'd rather not think about it." That was interesting, actually. "One more question before we drop the subject?" You asked. "..." He looked at you. "... fine, shoot."
"Does he know that he can't go feral?" Sans shrugged. "i dunno. we never discussed these things. i wasn't exactly in his life until recently."

🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️

Naturally that brought on more questions, but you let the subject drop as you continued to study the magic. "What are these yellow lines? And there's some cyan too?" Sans didn't hesitate to respond. "determination." You looked up from the scope. "So it's true then? The ferals are looking for what they are missing? Determination?" Sans looked up from whatever he'd been stirring together. "that's the theory, but who really knows? i'm tame, i have determination, but there's still something in the back of my skull that whispers for me to do what they do. so there's probably something more, something that my dad couldn't even figure out." It was unsettling to know Sans still had those urges, but at least he wasn't acting on them. "hungry?" Sans asked suddenly. "i haven't eaten all day and you've been with me so food is probably a good idea right now." He stood up, stretching his arms out. "c'mon, let's take a break." You stood up, stretching yourself. "Yeah, food sounds pretty good right now." You agreed as you both headed to the hospitals cafeteria.

🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️

Sans felt that the silence was awkward. Was it awkward? It was just him and his soulmate, sitting across from each other, eating some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Honestly this whole thing felt awkward. Having her join him. Maybe because he hadn't been around others in forever? It was pretty awkward when he moved in with Papyrus too. Yeah, it had to be him. He just felt awkward because his lack of social interaction. He nodded decisively to himself. "ns, Sans, Sans, Sans-" His head snapped his head up to [Y/N] repeatedly calling his name. It made his soul flutter. He wanted her to say it again. "sup?" He asked. "I'd been calling your name for awhile... are you ok..?" She was hesitant, a bit scared. It was probably from what he said before. "i promise, i'm not turning on you. i was just deep in thought. now, what can i do for ya?" Her fear elevated a bit, but not completely. He would have to live with that. She really didn't know him. "I was kinda wondering about you, we don't know each other, so we should get to know each other if we will be working together." She explained. Well then. That just happened.
