You and Sans sat up in bed, souls exposed to each other. He had a handle on yours while you held his. "i apologize in advance if it does hurt, i really don't know how it'll affect you.." You gave him a reassuring smile. "I'm sure it won't be that bad. Mark me, Sansy~" He blushed and turned away, clearly not expecting that from you. You were honestly a bit surprised with yourself. Before you could apologize though, you gasped. His hand was actually touching your soul now, leaving a mark around were his palm was pressed. For a moment you felt floaty and it was hard to think. Like your head was stuffed with cotton or something fluffy and nice. Then you felt extremely tired and fell forward. Something grabbed onto you and pulled you to it. It was nice. Comfy. You could sleep here. "that's not the reaction i was expecting." Someone may or may not have said. You couldn't really tell in the state you were in. "just get some rest, gracious. i'll be here when you wake up in the morning." The voice that may not have been a voice commanded. And you obeyed.

"Uh.." You stared absently as the mass curled on top of you like the cutest of dogs. You blinked again and shook your head, trying to clear yourself of the sleep fog that you were still under. "don't hurt yourself there, it might be residual magic from my mark." Sans had adjusted his head to look at you while he spoke. "What... happened..?" You grumbled as your mind started to clear up, little by little. "uh, not entirely sure. for a solid minute you looked higher then the mountain and just as quickly as you were there you kinda... i don't know... crashed?" He sat up and rolled off your legs, though you had no idea why he was on your legs to begin with. "You fell forward so i kinda just held you close to make sure you weren't dying. when i realized you were sleeping i put you down and curled up on top of ya... i don't actually know why though. instinct i guess." He shrugged as you gave him an amused smile. "Or maybe you're a dork." He gasped as if offended and flopped into the sheets. "Wanna make something and head to the lab?"

Biscuits and gravy was today's breakfast before you and Sans headed out the door and to the rest of the Ruins. Sans did want to go to the lab, but until there was a definitive answer from Papyrus and Frisk on if Sans could come back or not, you guys wouldn't break the rules... yet. "c'mon, this place is beautiful, you'll love it!" He was eager to show you the only part of the Underground that you'd never been in. "all the puzzles were deactivated so things should go smoothly, and i think there there might be spider cider and spider donuts left." You looked down at the thought of the feral spider woman. "Muffet was always good at lowering her stupidly high prices when it came to those who had lost someone... held many charities for them as well. She wasn't the greedy monster that she often came across as." Sans nodded in agreement. "let's get to that tour, eh?" Sans took your hand and intertwined his phalanges with your fingers as he lead you along the paths of the Ruins.

The Ruins were hands down the smallest area in the Underground, mostly due to the fact that the path into the old city was blocked off and Sans had never been there and therefore couldn't create a shortcut down there for you to explore. It was fine though, you ended up munching on donuts and drinking cider as you looked up at the carnivorous hole up above. "How did Frisk manage to survive that?" Sans shrugged. "their first reset, probably. they were most likely killed the first time they landed and just unknowingly reset making that the 'start point' of their journey. the first save star." You sucked in a breath. "Dang, it would suck to die that young. They're lucky to have that literal life hack." Sans narrowed his eyes up at the hole before a curious look crossed his features and he looked at you. "makes me wonder what you would've done if you had the power. would you have abused it as they had? saved us? let the player take over? trap them?" You shrugged. "I don't know, I never had it and I don't want it if it means that player thing will come after me." Sans chuckled and kissed you. "you're perfect, you know that?"

After awhile you and Sans headed back to Toriel's cottage. Might've picked up more cider and donuts along the way. You were glad monster food didn't spoil. Sans lit the fire and you both snuggled comfortably on the arm chair to take a small nap. It didn't feel like long before Sans jolted, waking you up with his movement. "Hm, wha..?"
"someone is knocking. i'll be back." You blinked in alarm as he disappeared. "Uhg, he's feral though! What if they-" You were up and running across the room in an instant, rounding towards the staircase. From their you half stumbled and half ran your way down and into the frigid hall leading out. "SANS!" You pushed yourself to go a little faster when he didn't answer. Please let this be a prank, let this be a prank, please! You rounded the corner breathlessly taking in what you saw. The president staring down at Sans, who was on his knees, with guns pointed at his head from either side. Papyrus and Frisk were nowhere to be seen. Your soul was pounding as you realized it was up to you weather he lived or died and you were not going to let him die.3 chapters left
