Addison groaned, rubbing her hands down her face.
The alcohol swirled in her veins, her head was throbbing, eyes dilated when she finally opened them. She startled, before relaxing when she remembered where she was, sinking back into the mess of pillows that was at the head of the bed. "There's Advil and water beside you," Bucky's voice came out of the bathroom, her eyes meeting his gaze in the mirror, "I've ordered toast and some fruit, figured you'd need it." He smiled, before going back to brushing his teeth. A smile plastered on Addison's face as she reached for the pills and water, taking them with ease while Bucky walked back into the room, sitting at the edge of the bed.
Not too close, but not too far.
"I'm sorry, that was so out of line for me to do last night," Addison sighed, reaching over once more for her phone, exhaustion covering her features, her smile slipping when multiple messages from Noah rested on the lock screen. Ignoring the messages, she shoved the phone under the pillow before turning her attention back to the drummer. "Oh my god, did I mess up your sleeping arrangement, I'm so sorry." Addison blabbered, her heart rate picking up as Bucky reached over, tucking some hair behind her ear. "Relax baby doll, I slept on the couch," Bucky chuckled, reaching into his suitcase for a pair of sweat, offering them to her. "Now, tell me where we need to go."
"We?" Addison questioned, pulling the sweats on under the sheets before she moved to sit above the comforter, food arriving quickly. "Yes we, if you think I'm letting your douchebag ex-boyfriend around you alone, you clearly don't know me." Bucky shrugged, getting up to go gather the food that awaited at the door, missing the way Addison's brows furrowed, her body instinctively following his. "I don't know you," she countered, leaning against the wall while he bent down to get the food, "I know the publics version of you, but I don't know you at all. You're a stranger. You could've kidnapped me for all I know."
Bucky let out a chuckle, kicking the door shut with his foot before leading her to the small table in the room.
"Well baby doll, ask away."
Addison's mouth dried as she sat across from him, the flimsy brown table the only separation. "What's your actual name?" She questioned as he set a plate of toast in front of her, along with a variety of different fruit options. "It'll help with the headache that's bound to come on," he tilted his chin up in a silent command for her to start eating, smiling as she did, "James, my name is James Buchanan Barnes." He stated, popping a strawberry into his mouth with a smile as she nibbled on the toast. "How'd you get the metal arm?" She questioned, her eyes falling the black and golden of his arm. He knew the question was coming, everyone had asked it. "An accident."
"You said to ask questions, you give that same answer to every interviewer, please. It'll stay safe with me."
Bucky sighed, taking another strawberry into his mouth while he contemplated his answer. "Back before Steve and I were in the band, we travelled, a lot. I fell off a train, shattered the bones, it was easier to amputate and get a prosthetic arm." Bucky explained, watching Addison's expression soften, the toast frozen midair as he raised the arm up. "I thought I would hate it, but the technology is insane, I can feel as if it were my real hand, or maybe it's because I have gone so long with two flesh hands I just remember what things feel like when I touch it." Bucky's eyes trailed over to Addison, her toast back on the plate as she watched him with a small smile. "Don't be sad baby doll, it's not going to change what happened, I'm just lucky I'm still able to play the drums." He felt the need to add, seeing her smile widen.
Addison went to ask another question, jumping when a loud knock hit the door. "Barnes, you better have my friend in there or so help me god." Natasha groaned loudly, clearly hungover while Addison stifled a laugh, the back of her hand pressed to her mouth. "Romanoff, go lay down. She's fine. She's eating." Bucky replied, watching Addison with the sparkle in her eye, amusement crossing her features. "I don't believe you!" Natasha replied, sighing dramatically when Steve's voice came up behind her. "Buck open the door before she breaks it down, save us all the headache." Steve mumbled, agitation radiating off him, no doubt for being awake so early. Bucky begrudgingly walked to the door pulling it open and stepping aside so the pair could see Addison in the office chair, eating peacefully.
