When I woke up, all I heard were gasps and shouts of excitement. Why is everybody excited? I closed my eyes again, wanting to sleep longer. It was hard because the sun was so bright it was hard to sleep. Suddenly I felt something pushing and pulling me.
"Wake up Chad!" Maxwell said excitedly.
"Why?" I asked.
"We're here!"
"Where?" I asked, half yawning half talking.
"Rondor Island of course!"Say what?!
I jumped out of my seat and look out through the window.
Big.
First word that comes into my head. The island is so much bigger than I thought it would be. It looks like it could be compared with New York. "Damn!" I said.
"I know right?"
"Its fricking huge!"Soon the the lush of green trees came closer and closer to me. When I looked down, the ground close to the beach looked like a mini-airport. The island so far is astounding. And I'm not one who can be easily impressed. There were small buildings that looked like communication centre where they broadcast messages to other planes. People were rushing out of the plane, cameras in their hands. I too, rushed out of the plane, excited for something that could probably change my life. Flashes of light were everywhere, nearly blinding me. I covered my eyes with my hands in an attempt to avoid the disturbing snapshots. Then a question popped into my head.
Where is Maxwell?
I looked at my surroundings but it was hopeless. Too many cameras were flashing into my eyes. Soon the flashing stopped. I tried to look at my surroundings again. I noticed that there is more people than were in the plane. How is that possible? Maybe they were here before me and everyone that was on the plane. I saw Maxwell with a camera in his hand ready to take a picture of me. Before I could cover my eyes the flash blinded me. I stumbled, tripped and fell on someone. The figure and I came crashing down into the warm sand. "Hey!" said the person. It was girl. I wiped the sand out of my eyes and looked at her. She was probably sixteen (my age), had jet black hair and brown eyes. She had a light complexion. She was wearing a denim shorts with a white blouse. "I am so sorry." I apologised. "I never meant to bump into you."
"Its fine." she said. I got up and gave her my hand to help her get off the ground. "My name is Chad. And you are?"
"Jessica Abrams."
"And I'm Maxwell Kruger!" Maxwell beamed out of nowhere. How did sneak up so quietly?
Jessica and I looked at him. "Your last name is Kruger?" We said in unison.
"Duh," Maxwell began, "who did you want me to be? Maxwell King?"
"It suits you more though." I said thoughtfully.
"I think Maxwell the Queen suits you more." We all laughed now. Maybe I didn't need to be so grumpy all the time. Maybe I won't be so alone in my life."Welcome!" boomed a man's voice. "Welcome to Rondor Island. My island!"
"Wait, you're Joshua Rondor?" I blurted out. I felt like a fool.
"Yes m'boy!" he replied happily. He was wearing a blue Hawaiian shirt with khaki shorts. I can't blame him. Its probably fifty-nine Fahrenheit here.
"Please follow me so that I may show you where you'll lay your heads for these two weeks." The crowd took more pictures of the exotic landscape. Jessica, Maxwell and I followed the adults. We talked and laughed as we went (my mouth is in agony as I have never smiles or laughed in my whole life.) The resort building was nothing fancy on the outside. Just plain, cream-coloured with windows for each room, which is by far, the most windows I'll ever see in my life. The inside was a dramatic opposite change than the outside. Inside I saw scarlet-red carpets, chandeliers, maroon walls with small diamonds etched in it. Joshua showed us our rooms. "Ah, I am sorry to say that we have only this room for the three of you. You have to share." Joshua said. "But don't fret, there is enough beds for you three. It isn't the best room but its better than nothing, eh?" He opened the door for us. Jessica, Maxwell and I were gasping like our lives depended on it. The "room" was more like a suite. It had wooden floors, red curtains hanging by the sliding door. There was a jacuzzi (although I don't think we are going to use that), the kitchen was the size of my room. The fridge stood in the corner, an ebony-coloured stove stood proudly next to the fridge. There were tables and chairs in the middle of the room-suite.
"This is amazing!" Jessica exclaimed.
"This is awesome!" Maxwell beamed.
"This is incredible!" I boomed.
Joshua gave a small chuckle."Enjoy your stay." He closed the door slightly, leaving it ajar. "Cause this will be your last-" The rest of the words were lost as he moved further away. But even when he said that, I got a chill in my spine. All of this was too good to be true. What is Joshua hiding?
