Jessica's POV
It can't be...... Maxwell is related to him?! That's.... That's madness. It could be a coincidence, of course but a feeling in my gut tells me that it isn't a coincidence. My grandmother said I should be careful of that man, but since he's dead, there's nothing to worry about. I took out the amulet out of my shirt. I have never taken it off, since my grandmother gave it to me on her deathbed. "My friend" was a lie to get away from Maxwell due to my obvious shock. Though, it couldn't hurt to check......
I saw no blood and gave a huge sigh of relief. I put the amulet back into my shirt. The amulet has a long history dating back World War II. I opened the door only to find Maxwell looking for......what is he looking for?
"Max," I said, "what are you looking for?"
"Just some ingredients for quiche."
"You do know that we can just order, right?"
"Yeah I know. I just need somethin' to take my mind off....you know."
He turned around. He's eyes were wet and red, as if he cried recently. Just thinking about Chad's body floating into the ocean made me want to scream. He was a nice guy, cute too.Though it doesn't look like he had much experience with females. Including me. Maxwell came to me, striding purposefully, and put his soft hand by my cheek. He used his thumb to wipe away my tears that I never knew of. I didn't pull away, even though that this felt wrong, as if I'm guilty, though why?
"Can I ask you a favour?" Maxwell said, slowly removing his hand.
"Yes." I said.
"I know this is gonna sound weird, but, could you kiss me?"
"What?"
"Listen, before you go psycho, my parents sent me to this island to help with my sexuality. I just want to know that I at least tried."I thought long about this before I made a decision. "Just a peck, alright?"
"That'll do. Thank you. You don't know how you made me feel like right now.We got closer to each other. I leaned in for the kiss and our lips met. I was going to pull away, but something made me want to continue. Something sparked in my heart, like flint against steel. We continued kissing, Maxwell's hands slithered towards my lower back and my hands reached his back.
Then suddenly Maxwell pushed me away gently. He inhaled deeply before he spoke, "Just a peck, eh?" He smirked.
I smiled. "Shut up."
"I didn't like it."
I frowned. "You're telling me I'm bad at this?"
"No, no, no. You're good, but I don't mean.....you know.....its just that......never mind. I meant that it feels weird and gross. No offense."
"None taken. I guess your still gay then?"
"Yeah. To be honest, I was gonna ask Chad."
"He won't like the sound of that."
"Yeah. Well its getting late and I'm tired."
"Actually its not very late. Probably eight o' clock."
"Well I'm still tired. Good night."
"Good night." He walked to his bed and slept, leaving me alone with my thoughts.
