(editor here, this chapter is from the new character, who you're about to meet, CADDY'S perspective! not via's! just thought to clarify :} )

"hey vee bee,"
"oh my god, caddy!" the girl in front of me squeals like a teenager, immediately crushing me with one of her well known bear hugs. she's like one of those snakes that squeezes you to death, except she really just lets go after five seconds and stares at you with those giant eyes of hers.
they're tiny galaxies pressed into her face, a million stars and wonders all in two spheres upon her golden complexion, and when they're turned on you, you know you have her full attention. it's kind of freakish, awesome, comforting all at the same time.
"you whore! you took forever!" she exclaims as she fake pouts, her bottom lip pressing forward, her nose bridge narrowing and her eyebrows furrowing.
i laugh at her gesture and put an arm around my best friend, pulling her close to my side before shoving her unceremoniously into my car. she has been by my side since college, and to have such a close friend is truly a gift. i twist the key and buckle my seatbelt, the engine roaring alive. it's this light green vw bug with daisy rims that i got for my seventeenth birthday after much begging, and it's the best thing i own.
i adjust the mirror and put my hand on the steering wheel, ready and impatient to take us wherever she wants to go. it's been so long since we've hung out, just the two of us. via's been pretty busy with her work, her new boyfriend (who i've yet to meet by the way) and setting up her twitch channel.
i never could have expected that she'd get into gaming, and i was even more surprised to hear that soon she'd be gaming in front of probably thousands of people. ("if I'm lucky!" is her response to my thousands-of-people comment) if she has a goal, she chases after it, and thats what made her stand out to you, and still does.
via has never been a very shy person; she performs in front of crowds of people at the pub all the time, and her youtube channel isn't unpopular, but i feel like maybe it's different, in a way.
"to the pub!" directs the brunette in my passenger seat, just as i finish my thought. i smile once more and pull out of the parking lot, making my way to the pub we've frequented for years. it's a very familiar drive, and a wave of nostalgia hits as i remember the first time we ever went to this particular place.
vee ended up having to hold back my hair as i got sick in a bush just outside the building, and she hasn't let me forget the experience, bringing it up every time she thinks i've had enough to drink.
"so let's hear it," i start, "what the hell have you been up to since we last met?"
she leans back in her seat, biting her lip in thought of where to start as i queue up my driving playlist and clairo's familiar tones fill the car and flow throughout our ears. vee nods her approval of the music and starts updating me on what's gone on with her recently.
"actually, someone's going to be meeting us there." she says casually, trying to look nonchalant by examining her nails, yet falling just short. she always failed to hide her excitement.. or maybe I just knew her too well.
i sigh, feigning annoyance as i turn to pull into the parking space closest to the front for an easy journey back to the car. "who've you invited then, liv?" i ask, the faux annoyance gone from my expression. i'm too excited to meet one of her new friends to keep it up.
"his name is george, and he's in town for a bit. he's going to be staying in my guest room, actually," she says as a grin creeps up on her lips. i can tell how happy she is to have as many new friends as she does ever since she met her boyfriend, and i'm equally as happy for her. it's been a rough couple of years, and it's nice to know things have been going well for her lately.
"that sounds fun," i say, clicking my seatbelt off and checking my hair in the mirror. via pulls out a vial of lip gloss from her bag, applying some before handing it to me. i mimic her actions and hand the gloss back to her, checking my reflection one last time before leaving the car.
"that's him! that's george!" she whisper-shouts as we walk through the doors to the pub. lights illuminate the dark room as the smell of alcohol and sweat fill your nostrils, accompanied by subtle music playing from speakers. i follow her pointed finger to a man sat at one of the stools in front of the bar, scrolling through his phone. i'm still looking at him when vee starts making her way toward him with absolutely no hesitation.
i have to admit, her lack of nervousness over meeting an online friend for the first time is a bit funny. i'd be nervous as hell if I were me, but she walks right up to him while i stay a few feet behind her, trying not to intrude on the moment.
"gogy!" she exclaims, grinning madly. the man in front of her looks up and smiles even wider, quickly getting up and lifting her off the ground, spinning her round once before setting her down, making a face as she tousles his fluffy hair. they look like a couple of teenagers, in the most adorable way possible. they seem so excited to meet that i'm a bit nervous to step in to introduce myself.
thankfully, liv wastes almost no time pulling me over by my arm and doing the honours herself. "this is cadmium, my best friend in the entire world. you can call her caddy, but pretty much nothing else, and especially not mimi. someone tried that in college and i never saw him again." she finishes, grinning.
"rumour has it i murdered him, but really i just threatened to mass send what he posted on his spam account and he stopped coming round our lunch table. but then again, the pictures were enough to keep him out of uni if in the wrong hands" i explain, holding back a giggle at the memory, to which olivia shakes her head, trying to hide a smile.
"brutal. anyway, this is george, my other best friend in the entire world. you may call him gogy only once you've earned his respect. he has no other nicknames, but feel free to give him one," she says with a smirk.
"please don't," mumbles the brunette beside her, pinching the bridge of his nose between his fingers.
"you, sir, need a haircut." liv teases, flicking his fluffy, overgrown hair from his face with her hand and starting off toward the nearest table, sitting down before pulling her phone from her bag and typing furiously.
"what i need is a drink." george sighs, following after her. the whole interaction is so comfortable, you'd have no idea they'd never met in person before ten minutes ago. i could tell then that they'd be friends for a very long time.
