We met in the Highlands 'midst heather and gorse
I was a lizard and he was a horse.
An unlikely meeting that led to great things:
We sang and danced. Our love gave us wings.
I grew and grew larger, more and more every day
But that never stopped us from meeting to play.
I grew and I grew, became thinner and thinner,
What could I do? I had him for dinner!
I was a dragon and he was a horse.
He didn't suspect that he was the main course.
Fourteen weeks later I hatched out my eggs:
Miniature horses with wings and green legs.
Their feet had claws, their tails had spikes!
The very first horseflies were my little tykes!
If you fall in love, don't rue the day.
Evolving life will find a way.
