Today the sniffer dog arrived
to check for bedbugs. What a hoot!
I always hyperventilate.
Does my domain contain a coot?
"Prepare your room!" the memo charged,
"Take out your garbage, don't be late!
If your upholstery houses bugs,
You will have to evacuate!"
I waited for the knock of doom,
Unlocked the door, and stepped outside.
The dog invaded, sniff, snuff, sniff.
The tension built! Could I abide?
A single bark would tell the world
That my domain had failed the test.
I waited, breathless, for a clue.
The dog was silent. I could rest.
