Chapter 9

The next morning I woke up feeling so much better. I sat up and looked out my window. I scurried out of bed and called for Carlotta. She came immediately and helped me get dressed. I then slipped on a pair of boots and ran down to breakfast. Mum, dad and my sibling were all seated. "Morning!" I chirp happily sitting down in my seat. "Looks as if somebody is feeling better." Mum said. "Much better." I say adjusting myself in my seat. "Well good. Because you are flat out Aweful when your sick." Ingeras said. I rolled my eyes and laughed. "Not my fault. Being sick is purely terrible." I say in defense. "Elise you get sick more than anybody I've ever met!" Victoria said. I shrug my shoulders "I can't help it. I just get sick a lot." I said. "Children. Your sister gets sick so easily because when I was pregnant with her, I got sick and so did she. She was born with the influenza." Mum said. We all nodded. "Huh, that makes sense." I say simply. "Elise, Do not forget you have Riding Lessons today." Mum said. "I won't I'll be there." I say. After breakfast. I changed into my leather riding boots and a pair of pants and a tunic. I raced out to the stables. My riding teacher was saddling up my horse Topaz. "Good morning Ashley." I smile leaning against the doorway. "Morning, Elise." She said. I walked over to Topaz. "Hi pretty girl." I say stroking her soft amber colored fur. She whinnied in delight and stomped her hooves. I mounted up onto her back and we cantered out and around the court yard. I slowed Topaz to a stop and waited for Ashley. "Alright Elise I want you to Canter then break into a gallop." She said. I nodded and urged Topaz into a gentle canter. After about 10 minutes we broke into a trott. After another 5 minutes of trotting I urged Topaz to Run. She galloped fast and hard and we went around and around the court yard. I soon urged her to stop and let Ber rest. I was talking to Ashley about some techniques when Topaz started to whiney and shyed away from something. "Easy Topaz easy." I said calmingly. She soon was bucking around and whinnying in fright. I tried to control her with the reines but it wasn't easy. She kicked up her front legs sending me tumbling to the hard stone ground. Ashley grabbed ahold of Topaz's reines and got her calmed. "Elise are you right?" She asked. "No m-my ankel. It hurts, I can't move it." I said starting to cry. "Hold on I'll get help." She said running to get help. Topaz looked down at me and whinnied. She lied down next to me and nuzzled her muzzle into my neck. "Its alright Topaz, you didn't mean to hurt anybody." I say petting her softly. "Elise!" Mum yells running to my side. "Are you alright?" Dad asks. "I'm fine my ankel hurts though." I said. "Can you stand?" Mum asked. I shook me head no. "That horse is dangerous!" Mum said. She then slapped Topaz in the muzzle multiple times. "Mother! Stop it! Leave her alone!" I screamed fearing my horses life. Dad grabbed mum and pulled her away from a whinnying Topaz. "Mirena! Stop it!" He yelled. "Are you crazy? Why would you hit her!" I yelled my adrenaline kicked in and I stood up not feeling any pain. I walked over to Topaz and Bentley rubbed her muzzle. She shyed away from me. "Sh sh. Its okay. Its me." I said she shyed away and galloped off to the stables. I whipped around toward my mother. "Look what you've done. She scared of me now!" I yelled. "I was teaching her to be obeidient." She said. "No! You had no right to hit her!" I yelled. "I have every right to." My mother yelled back. "No you do not! She is MY horse. The only person aloud to LA a hand on her is me! Why would you hit her anyway?!?" I screamed. "She threw you off her back! She deserved it!" Mum yelled back. "It was an accident! Something spooked her and she threw me off she didn't mean to hurt me!" I screamed. Mum instantly looked very guilty. "Elise, I'm sorry I-I did not know." She said reaching for me. "No! Stay away from me, and stay away from Topaz!" I say. Mum raised her hand as if she was going to hit me. "Go ahea, hit me. Watch how fast I disappear." I threatened. Mum put her hand down and I smirked. I turned and ran off to find Topaz. I eventually found her in her stalk in the stables. I walked over to her. "Hey Pretty girl." I say stroking her fur softly. She Nuzzled her muzzle into my hand and whinnied. "Did mother hurt you to bad?" I asked looking at her muzzle. "It my bruise a little." I tell her petting her nose. "Elise?" Dad's voice called out. "In here." I say still petting Topaz. "How is she?" He asked. "She's alright. The spots she got hit will bruise but she'll be okay." I say missing her nose. She whinnied and layed down. I walked out of the stable with dad and hugged him. "Thank you for pulling her away from Topaz. I feared she would kill her if you didn't stop her." I said. "Your welcome angel." He said hugging me back. After we left the stables we had my ankle checked and it was indeed sprained. I sat on the sofa with a bandage wrapped around my ankle and foot. "Hey small fry. How's the ankle?" Ingeras asked sitting down next to me. "It hurts." I said adjusting myself to look at him. "I heard you an mum aren't speaking to each other." He said. "Yeah, I'm extremely angery at her." I said. "I can imagine. I would have done the same thing if I were in your position." He said. "How's Topaz?" He asked. "She's alright. She'll have a few bruises but nothing bad." I say. "Oh good." He smiled. I smiled back at my brother and hugged him. "Thanks for caring about her Ingeras." I say. "Your welcome Small fry." He said hugging me back.
