Qibli opened his front door, wondering who could be knocking this late. He was surprised to see Kinkajou standing on his porch with an overnight bag. He opened the door all the way and stepped aside, inviting her in.

"I hate my parents." She mumbled. "Can I stay here with you and Moon?"

"Uh, yeah, of course."

"Thanks."

He took her bag. "Do you wanna talk about it?"

Kinkajou looked away. "Not really."

Qibli nodded. "Let's go up--"

"Qibli?" Thorn called from somewhere in the house. She made her way to the front door.

"Who's at the--" her face lit up. "Is that Kinkajou?!"

Kinkajou smiled, letting Qibli's mother hug her. "It's been so long! Baby how are you?" She took Kinkajou's shoulders and examined her from an arm's length. "You're so beautiful!"

Kinkajou laughed a little. "Has it really been that long?"

Qibli noticed she dodged the question.

"Hasn't it?" Thorn answered. "Wasn't last summer when you last came here?"

"Oh yeah," Kinkajou remembered. "I guess it has."

"It's so great seeing you." Thorn said, her smile never leaving. "I'm about to go out, but you guys enjoy your night."

"Where are you going at this time?" Qibli asked his mother.

"Sometimes, my business just isn't your business baby." She answered with a smile. She gave Kinkajou one last quick hug before going back to her room.

"She's so nice." Kinkajou said, making her way up the stairs.

"Hey Moon, look who's here!" Qibli said, opening the door to his room.

"Kinkajou?" Moon asked, getting up from where she'd been on the floor to hug her friend as Qibli set her bag next to Moon's.

"Hey."

Moon frowned. She took her friend's hand and led her to Qibli's desk chair. "Sit."

Kinkajou did as she said.

"What's going on?"

It took a few moments for Kinkajou to say something. "Do you guys think I'm annoying?"

"What?" Qibli asked at the same time as Moon echoed, "Annoying?"

"I didn't stutter." Kinkajou mumbled.

Qibli and Moon shared a glance that was between confused and worried. "Kinkajou, of course we don't." Moon answered.

"Did your parents say something?" Qibli asked her.

"They said a lot of things."

"What did they say?"

"Like how I'm stupid and failing everything and that they didn't raise me to be like this. But it's like, did they even raise me at all? No! The fūcking nannies did!" Moon mentally flinched back. She never thought she'd see Kinkajou so angry, and she'd never even dreamed of hearing her swear. Kinkajou buried her face in her hands in frustration, then crossed the room. She fanned herself with her hands for a second. "And they kept saying that I'm annoying and childish and I need to grow up but it's like if you wanted to be involved in how I turned out, maybe be around for more than four days in my life? Ugh, it's whatever. I don't wanna talk about it. Let's do something else."
