Matt x Mello~~Heart-Shaped Box

Chapter one

Wammy's House is an orphanage established by Quillsh Wammy for especially gifted children in Winchester, England.

Mello is gorgeous beyond words. He has chin-length blonde hair and stunning blue eyes. He's smart, hardworking, confident, a little bit moody and sometimes even impatient.

Matt is Mello's best friend. They've been friends since childhood. They both trust each other and spend most of their time together. Though Matt plays video games 24/7 and hates going outside, he's very clever and hilarious.

It was a grey afternoon set in mist and coldness. Matt was alone in the room. He was wearing his favorite red and black striped long-sleeved top and playing video games as usual.

Suddenly the door burst open and Mello came in. With a furious look on his face he yelled at the top of his lungs: "I HATE NEAR! I HATE HIM SO MUCH".

"What the devil is the matter!?" Matt asked in shock.

"That dickhead has got the highest score on the test which I've been preparing for weeks!" Mello answered angrily. "I tried so hard, I didn't even sleep, but I'm the second... again".

Matt was listening pop-eyed and finally decided to speak.
"Mello, just calm down. I've seen how hard you've been studying. I'm so proud of you. I'm proud that you never gave up on yourself. You're doing better than you think you are. Keep going, you've got this".

Suddenly Mello's eyes widened and started shining.
"Matt... Thank you... You're always ready to comfort me, even when I yell and complain. I do appreciate everything you do for me".

"Mels, you're my best friend, there's no need to thank me. By the way, do you want some chocolate?"

"Of course" Mello answered in an ecstatic voice. "You know what Matt", Mello continued after biting his chocolate. "Even though I hate Near and don't want to see his hideous face, I'm still gonna do my best. Years of practice had taught me to keep my face calm".

"Yeah, ok. But first of all you need to fix you messed sleep schedule" Matt responded and chuckled.

It was 1:37 am when Mello finished studying. His hands and feet were frozen. Mello looked at Matt. He was already sleeping peacefully. Mello smiled as he looked at redhead's beautiful face. Then he approached Matt's bed and lay down next to him. Without hesitation he kissed Matt's cheek. Matt opened his eyes.
With a surprised look on his face he asked: "Mello, what are you doing in my bed?"

"Uhm... it's just... It was so cold in the room, I lay down next to you to warm up a bit. Sorry for bothering you".

"It's ok, stay here if you want" Matt said and rubbed his eyes. A few minutes later he was fast asleep.

"Good night Matt".
