Two weeks later:
Sophie's POV:
I yawned as I woke up and went to check my reflection. I gasped as I saw how messy my hair was and ran to fix it. After brushing through my hair and putting on a grey sweatshirt and jeans, I walked downstairs.

"Good morning," Grady said. Grady was the guy I was staying with. Him and his wife Edaline. We didn't know how long I was going to be here but for now they were my foster parents.

"Good morning," I said back. I went outside to the back porch where I sat down and started reading. Loud squawks emerged from a coop in the yard. Grady and Edaline liked animals a lot and kept many at their house including chickens, two cats (one of which they got for me) and two dogs.

The squawks kept coming and didn't stop after a few seconds like they normally did. After a couple of minutes, I went to see what was going on. Much to my surprise, a (super cute) boy was hitting baseballs across his yard and right into the chicken coop. I took a second to admire his looks before letting him notice me. He had his blonde hair perfectly touseled and had icy blue eyes. He was one of the cutest boys I had ever seen.

"Hey, you gonna come out of there at some point, or are you gonna hide forever? Cause I'd prefer the first option." The boy said.

I sheepishly stepped out from behind the tree. "Huh," he said, "who are you? This is Grady and Edalines house and they don't have kids,"

"I'm Sophie. And, Grady and Edaline, are, um, fostering me," I said.

"Oh," he said, "I, um, I wasn't under the impression that they would ever, well, want kids again. I mean, no one was,"

"Again?" I asked. I hadn't known they'd had kids before. I guess I didn't really know them all that well.

"Um, let's get off that topic," he said, "I'm Keefe, you're neighbor. Are you going to go to Greenview?"

Greenview was the public school here. However, Grady and Edaline had opted to send me to private school. "No, um, actually I'm going to Foxfire."

"Oh! That's where I go, I guess I'll see you there, when do you start?" He asked.

"Tomorrow," I said, "see you then,"

"It's a date!" He said, winking as he ran into his house. Butterflies swam though my stomach as I watched him until he was out of view. Even after he left, I stood there reminiscing the conversation for a few minutes until Grady called me in. Apparently he wanted to have a "talk".
