A/n: just wanted to add a little thing saying this cause people seem to not be noticing it in the title, but this is a story where the characters are HUMANS. Thanks for reading! <3

Sophie's POV:
I walked out to my porch and sat down to read. My neighbor, Mr. Forkle waved at me. I went to wave back but just then my parents and younger sister came outside. I looked nothing like my family. They all had brown hair and greenish brown eyes. I had blonde hair and brown eyes. I also cared a lot more about grades and what people thought of me than the rest of my family. I was really shy at school and tried to stay unnoticed, especially because I took almost entirely classes for juniors, and I was a freshman.

My parents were going to take my sister to a party her friend Katie was having, and they had to stay to supervise. They got into the car and left and I read the whole time. Two hours later, I started to get worried, they were only supposed to be gone for an hour and a half. After another half hour, I went to knock on Mr. Forkles door to ask him to call my parents but he wasn't home.

Twenty minutes later, a man who looked to be about forty-something and his son who looked a little older than me- and was very attractive- showed up at my house in the flashiest car I'd ever seen, and walked up to me.

The boy showed me a news article on his phone. It showed that there had been a car crash on a busy road that sent the whole foster family to the hospital. They all were in a coma and if they would live was unknown.

A tear had rolled down onto my face by the time I finished reading the article. I looked up at them but couldn't figure out what to say. The boy came over and gave me a hug. "It's gonna be okay," he said.

I leaned into the hug and sobbed for what felt like forever. When I finally ran out of tears, I stepped away from him. "What am I supposed to do now?" I asked.

"We're going to find a new home for you," the man said, "I'm Alden Vacker, and I think I know some people who would take you in."

"T-thank you," I said, trying to smile but failing.

They took me in their car and the boy sat next to me. "I'm Fitz," he said, "and you're Sophie, right?"

I nodded and we sat in silence for the whole way to their house in a different state- New York.

A/N:
If you saw my other story, I'm not going to stop writing that one, I'm just gonna write this in addition. Also, I'm gonna do a shout-out thing. Anyone who wants a shoutout can comment here and I'll use a random number generator to pick who gets a shoutout in the next chapter.
