4- Time to investigate

That afternoon, we all went with our bikes to investigate. Everyone waved and cheered at my siblings. They smiled at Félix (Pepa's boyfriend) and Agustín. But they looked at me as if they'd seen a ghost.

Nevermind. I'm used to it by now.

We arrived at the first scenario. 

"Hey, no children are allowed" Said a policeman. But when he saw Bruno and Pepa, his expression changed "Oh, you're here."

"We need information" Pepa said

"She was a girl, not much older that you. She was called Samah"

A shiver came down my spine. Samah has been killed? The girl who ruined my life? What was I supposed to think about? 

A part of me was dancing, while other part was scolding myself from getting happy. I had to focus.

I stared at my mates. Félix was looking at the policeman, unaware of what just happened. My sibling were staring at me. They didn't know the whole story, but they knew enough.

Agustín held my hand and mouthed "It's ok"

None of it was ok, but I decided it wasn't the time. I held his hand tighter.

Suddenly, a guy started running and yelling at the policeman.

"WHERE IS MY SAMAH? WHERE IS SHE? WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO HER?"

I gasped. It was Marco.

I started running to my bike. I started cycling as fast as I could. I only stopped in the square.

My mates came not long after.

"What was that about?" Pepa looked mad.

"Sorry" I whispered "Marco..."

No one said anything after. We cycled to the second scenario. The forest.

The body was still there. It was pretty recent. We weren't allowed to get near.

But I felt as if I was attracted to the place where the body lied. So, while Pepa and Bruno talked with another policeman, I got closer.

The sight was horrible. The body was terribly severed, and it smelled awful. I wanted to go back, but I couldn't. I uncounciously started walking closer and closer.

Finally, when I was inches from it, I saw the face. The eyes were white, and the mouth open. But that wasn't what surprised me. It was his nose. It was bloody.

Suddenly, I heads chimes. Like a clock ticking.

I saw a grandfather clock in front of me. It was old and pretty scary. Everything turned red. I tried to run away, but I couldn't move.

Next thing I knew, I was lying in the ground, four worried faces staring at me.

"Wh-What happened?" My head hurt

"You fainted" Bruno stared at me. He seemed... scared? 

"You were close to the body..." Félix didn't knew me very well, but he stared as if I was a dead body aswell.

"Enough! You should all leave by now!" The policeman pushed us far from the forest.

We cycled back home.

When we arrived, they discussed what they'd found out. But I was distant. I couldn't stop thinking of what I'd found at the forest. I was sure I'd seen a grandfather clock. But, then again, it wasn't there when I checked before we leaved. Also, no one seemed to have heard the chimes...

It was all very strange. And it was getting stranger.

That night, I didn't want to close my eyes, afraid of the nightmares. But, at the end, my eyelids closed.

I found myself at a dark place. Not under the spotlight, thankfully, but it was still very scary. I heard footsteps and turned around to see the most hideous creature staring back at me. It was human-ish, but it seemed burned. The flesh was practically falling from its body.

"Julieta" His voice seemed as if it has just came from the depth of hell. And he was adressing me "You've seen what I do. I gave those poor kids an oportunity to be something useful. I've seen your dreams, and I've seen your fears. You'd be better helping me. Don't fight me, and it will be easier. Perhaps I'll show mercy, if you behave."

"No!" He was trying to trick me. Perhaps he'd tricked the foolish Samah, but he wouldn't trick me. I wouldn't let him "Don't you dare come any closer!"

"Pity" He seemed... Dissapointed "We could have done great things. Now, you'll be killed in a slow, painful way and your Fantastic Siblings won't be there for you."

He laughed, an awful, maniac laugh.

I was very scared. I couldn't help it. He was gonna kill me. He was gonna make me dissapear. I wouldn't be more than a dead body, like Samah or the other boy...

Nothing more than bones...

I woke up covered in sweat and blood.
