LACEY

This might be hands down might be one of the worst things that I have ever had to do. Minus that one time I had to do a science fair against my will. That still holds number one of the worst things I have ever done. Right next to dogging Braden because I was with Michael Burke. But honestly that is all really besides the point.

I have been sitting in my car, staring at my sorority house and debating on whether I should go in there like a badass or turn around and drive far far away. I hear Florida is really nice this time of year. Or somewhere further like Australia. Yeah, that should be far enough away from my president and my mother to avoid all of my problems. I blink hoping it will  transport me to Bondi Beach in Australia. Unfortunately there are no white sands and a long vast ocean in front of me. No, it is my gray sorority stares back at me in almost a mocking way.

There is no possible way I can do this right now.

I place my keys back in the ignition fully ready to speed away from the curb. Realization dawns on me, I can't run away from this. Running away and not just facing this won't help me in the end. I will still probably be stuck in this shitty situation with my shitty sorority and my mom treating me like- well I don't know how to even describe that. I cut the ignition of my car again and grab my purse. I sling it over my shoulder and step out of my car with, what I hope looks like confidence and not terror.

I walk across the freshly manicured lawn and up the stairs of the house. My heels click against the stairs as I make my way up the last one. I made sure to dress nice because if I am going to be dumped from the sorority I might as well look good.

I can do this. I am capable of putting on my big girl panties and facing these shitty sorority girls. I need to rip a page out of Carter's book and just go for it. Well I guess I kind of did take a page out of Carter's book and I mean literally. I open the sorority house door. I ignore the stares from the girls sitting on the couches and chairs. I head towards the back halls where the study rooms are and make my way into the second one on the left. Where Caitlyn said to meet her and Michelle. I push open the glass door and see the two of them sitting at the table chatting away. Like they could not give less of a shit they are about to drop me from the sorority.

They both look towards me as I pull out the car from across the table. I plant myself in the chair and shoot them a smile. I hope it looks convincing enough for them because I want to be unbothered by this.

"Hi Michelle and Caitlyn, hope things are well," I say, setting my phone onto the table. Beside my phone I fold my hands together as they both shoot me their sorority girl fake smiles. I do in fact learn from the best.

"Things are great," Caitlyn responds. She adjusts the papers sitting in front of her, her perfectly manicured fingers curl around the pages. Her orange fingers stand out in contrast to the white papers.

"We have heard many, many things about you this past weeked. Thanks to our sister sorority President, Kristen. You and your roommates know her, yes?" Michelle gets right into it. I keep my composure, shrugging my shoulders. Channel Carter. Channel Carter.

"I am sure you have been told loads. Kristen is just such a big fan of ours," I smile at the two of them. I see Caitlyn and Michelle's faces drop slightly from my wording but go right back to the fake smile. I take a deep inhale through my nose trying to ignore the budding anxiety.

"That's awfully confident of you to assume she just isn't looking out for our Greek Life community," Caitlyn responds in a tight tone. The smile still planted on her lips while I let out a laugh I can't contain. If someone were to look into the room right now they would probably think this conversation is friendly. But trust me when I say the energy in this room is anything but.
